‘Shadowhunters’: Paul Wesley Directs Simon’s Uneasy Family Dinner (PHOTOS)
While we often see vampires on screen in Shadowhunters, we’re not as used to having a vampire step behind the camera, but that’s exactly what happens with Monday’s episode of the Freeform series…sorta. The Vampire Diaries signed off earlier this year on the CW, but star Paul Wesley (who played vampire Stefan Salvatore) already had a new gig lined up in directing the popular hit series.

It’s only fitting that Wesley would helm an episode that finds our resident vampire, Simon (Alberto Rosende), reeling from his recent breakup with Clary (Katherine McNamara)—well, he said he needed some time after Clary kissed her ex, Jace (Dominic Sherwood)—and the aftermath of killing a vampire for the first time in the previous episode. It’s no surprise, then, that our favorite bloodsucker isn’t feeling up for going to his family’s annual Yom Kippur dinner where atoning for your sins is part of the tradition. Hard pass!
As you’ll see in this exclusive gallery of photos (above), none other than Maia (Alisha Wainwright) comes to the rescue to help Simon through the uncomfortable dinner. Is there more blossoming in their relationship than just a friend helping another friend get through a rough time? Check out the photos from the dinner scene to find out. And enjoy a few shote of Wesley wearing his directing hat with the cast.
