‘Criminal Minds: Evolution’ Ending With Season 20 — Check out First Photos
We’ll be saying goodbye to the BAU and its profilers once again. Criminal Minds: Evolution is ending with its 20th season (overall and fifth for the continuation on Paramount+ after ending its 15-year run on CBS).
The new episodes will premiere in 2027, and Paramount+ has released the first photos from the new season, which you can check out above and below.
“It’s hard to put into words what Criminal Minds has meant to all of us who have been fortunate enough to be part of this extraordinary journey, first on CBS for 15 seasons and then on Paramount+ for five,” showrunner and executive producer Erica Messer said in a statement. “While suddenly navigating the end of this chapter, I’m filled with gratitude for our remarkable cast, writers, directors and crew who have poured their hearts into this show, and for the incredible fans around the world whose unwavering loyalty has kept Criminal Minds going for two decades. We’re looking forward to sharing Season 20 with everyone, and celebrating the legacy of this special show we’ve all built together.”
Criminal Minds: Evolution stars Joe Mantegna (Rossi), A.J. Cook (JJ), Kirsten Vangsness (Garcia), Aisha Tyler (Tara), and RJ Hatanaka (Tyler), with Adam Rodriguez (Luke) and Paget Brewster (Prentiss). Zach Gilford is not returning, after last season ended with his character, Elias Voit, locked up in an undisclosed high-security federal penitentiary.
When TV Insider spoke with Messer about the Season 19 finale, we asked who was going to be the focus of Season 20. “Probably Rossi,” she said, pointing back to one of our other questions. “I mean, to your question about, ‘Can he close the book on this, and will there be a lighter Rossi?’ Yeah, for an episode, and then it gets heavy for him again. But I think Rossi is very affected by some stuff that happens early on in Season 20, and the team is rallying to help everybody get through it, but it feels emotionally that Rossi’s hit really hard in Season 20.”
Joining Messer as executive producers are Breen Frazier, Chris Barbour, Glenn Kershaw, Stacey Hardt, and Mark Gordon. The series is produced by 20th Television and CBS Studios.
Check out the photos below, then let us know what you’re hoping to see in the final season.

honestly not that disappointed. I love Criminal Minds but grew really tired of the Voit storyline.

Why is it that all the good shows are ending? Criminal Minds Evolution is getting better and better every season and now Paramount is pulling the plug. It seems that all the channels are getting rid of great shows and are keeping dreck like the stupid reality shows. It’s getting to the point where I just tape new shows that I like and wait until the networks decide if the shows get a second or third season etc. if they don’t then I will delete the series altogether. Why waste my time on one season of a good show if the networks don’t renew it but will renew shows like BIG BROTHER, LOVE IS BLIND, The Kardashians, The Voice etc. Most of the contestants on the competition shows never really go anywhere and never get a singing contract etc. Our country is getting so stupider by the day and these so called reality shows only make it worse.
