The Walking Dead
The biggest news for The Walking Dead? The upcoming season will be star Andrew Lincoln’s last. In the meantime, the survivors will have to make some tough decisions. “What we’ve been doing is an eye for an eye, and [Rick] puts forward a concept of evolving past that,” says Danai Gurira, third from left, with Lauren Cohan, Norman Reedus and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Black Lightning
After a season of his superhero alter ego taking down bad guys, “Jefferson tries to get back to normalcy, and that’s not going to happen,” Cress Williams teases. “It’s going to be messy.”
Castle Rock
The town of Castle Rock may be full of scary happenings, but Sissy Spacek (right, with Jane Levy) says the most frightening thing for her character, who is suffering from dementia, is internal. “Her horror is in her head. She’s lost in her own little world.”
Supernatural
After spending his July 19 birthday fly fishing in Idaho, Jared Padalecki (center, with Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins) flew to San Diego to join his costars. During Supernatural’s panel, costar Alexander Calvert (Jack) joked of life on set: “Working with Misha is almost as bad as working with Jared and Jensen.”
Lucifer
Star Tom Ellis (right) and executive producers Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson share the love. Ellis admitted that the fan campaign to save the wickedly fun series (Netflix snapped it up after Fox’s cancellation) “picked me up off the floor.”
Riverdale
The name of the game for Riverdale troublemaker Cheryl Blossom in Season 3 now that she’s a part of the devilish Serpents gang? Power. “Cheryl’s finally got a girlfriend, she’s living her truth, she’s out in the world,” says actress Madelaine Petsch. “She tries to make power grabs everywhere.”
The Good Place
Season 3 resets the comedy, as the formerly deceased characters are dropped into an alternate timeline back on Earth to see if they can truly earn their spots in the Good Place. “I just hope [my character Jason] is 10 percent smarter this time,” jokes Manny Jacinto, third from right, with William Jackson Harper, D’Arcy Carden, Ted Danson, Kristen Bell, Jameela Jamil and Marc Evan Jackson.
The annual celebration of sci-fi television, movies and comic books was held in San Diego July 19-22. During the convention, dozens, of stars stopped by the TV Guide Magazine/TV Insider photo studio to get snapped — and also shared some intel on your favorite shows.
