Though they initially are going to continue to ride together as partners (against Frank's wishes), Jamie takes the sergeant's exam and is promoted in Season 9. He begins working in a new precinct, and Eddie soon follows him.Now, he's her boss at work — and no one there knows about their personal relationship.
Jamie Meets Eddie's Mother
In Season 9, Episode 7, "By Hook or by Crook," Jamie finally meets Eddie's mother, Lena (Christine Ebersole).While it doesn't go well at first — Lena doesn't like that he's a cop — he wins her over. He's the only one of Eddie's significant others who doesn't run after meeting her mother.
Jamie and Eddie Settle on a Wedding Venue
In Season 9, Episode 12, "Milestones," Jamie takes their future finances into account when it comes to their wedding venue. He suggests they get married at the courthouse and have a brunch at Frank's house. She thought he wanted to get married at his church.At the end of the episode, he brings her to a restaurant as a compromise. "It's perfect," she says.
Eddie Goes Wedding Dress Shopping
In Season 9, Episode 13, "Ripple Effect," Erin (Bridget Moynahan) and Nicky (Sami Gayle) join Eddie in looking for a dress. The one she loves is expensive, but Nicky points out she only lives once.However, Eddie provides a donation to a mother needing help paying for insulin for her son. "I decided I didn't need the most expensive dress in the shop," she tells Jamie.
Frank and Lena Meet
In Season 9, Episode 19, "Common Enemies," Jamie's father and Eddie's mother meet when the latter goes to him for help with her neighbors.However, Lena doesn't want Eddie to know they met before she could introduce them, so the two pretend it didn't happen when they all meet for dinner.
Jamie Visits Eddie's Father in Prison
In Season 9, Episode 21, "Identity," Jamie visits Eddie's father, Armin (William Sadler), in prison.
Danny Has a Wedding Date

It will be almost exactly one year later when the two get married in the May 10 Season 9 finale.
