Inside the Actors Studio, “Jim Parsons” (Thursday, June 18, 8/7c, Bravo)

Science and religion collide on tonight’s episode of Inside the Actors Studio when acclaimed comedic actor Jim Parsons visits host James Lipton for a spirited and frank discussion about his career. While Parsons is best known to viewers as eccentric nerd Sheldon Cooper on CBS’s The Big Bang Theory, he is also a Broadway vet, first debuting in 2011 as Tommy Boatwright in The Normal Heart, a role which he revisited in the 2014 HBO film. This summer, Parsons is tapping into his spiritual side as God in the Broadway play An Act of God. The conversation with Lipton touches on Parsons’ theater upbringing in Houston and his relationship with his late father. He also discusses the early days of The Big Bang Theory and even delves into his personal life with partner Todd Spiewak. And of course, Lipton coaxes Parsons to answer a few questions as Sheldon himself. Bazinga!
