‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Sneak Peek: Wait, Is Bailey Flirting With Another Man?

Grey's Anatomy - Chandra Wilson as Miranda Bailey

After Thursday’s (November 6) new episode of Grey’s Anatomy hinted that Benson “Blue” Kwan (Harry Shum Jr.) might have a reason to leave the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, the trailer for next week’s episode, “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You),” has added a new detail to the mix: His dad, who arrived just minutes after Blue got taken off the surgical bench, reveals to Blue that he is dying.

Blue does not seem happy to see him before that, and we do not yet know why. Details about his past are few, but what we do know is that he had to care for his dying mother back when he was in college, causing him both academic and financial distress, so perhaps there is some lingering resentment for his father to flesh out now.

There’s an even bigger ripple offered by this look-ahead, though: Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) brings home a new friend who leaves her giggling and sends Ben Warren (Jason George) into full side-eye mode. Is that flirting we see from Bailey? It’s been a while since this power couple had any problems aside from Ben’s impulsiveness with career-hopping and ill-advised impromptu surgeries, so it’s a total surprise to see Ben say something as defensive as, “Hey, I’m her life partner.”

Elsewhere in the teaser, it looks like Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) will once again have to get back to work on the obstetrics beat after submitting her resignation because her new friend (Sarah Levy) from the postpartum PTSD group is going to go into labor during a visit, and it looks like there will be another complication for the already-traumatized mom.

The official description for the episode reads, “Jo faces a life-or-death crisis when a house call goes wrong, and Ben meets Bailey’s new study partner. Meanwhile, Blue struggles with an unexpected family issue.”
