Exclusive
What To Know
- Craig Conover is a contestant in Season 5 of The Traitors.
- The Southern Charm star opened up to TV Insider about why he chose not to have a strategy heading into the game.
- He also called being on The Traitors a “dream come true.”
Craig Conover recently spent time in Scotland, where he filmed Season 5 of The Traitors alongside a cast of fellow celebrities. The Southern Charm star is sworn to secrecy about what happened in the castle for now, but was able to dish on his mindset heading into the game.
“There’s so many variables that go into Traitors. For example, you could have the same cast every year and have an entirely different show every year,” he told TV Insider. “That’s how many variables there are, and you don’t know them until you get there. So to have a set strategy, I don’t think is even possible.”
Instead, Conover said he just went onto the show as the “best version” of himself. “I was really, really excited and happy to be the healthiest I’ve ever been,” he admitted. Of his decision to take part in the competition, he added, “I just think it’s one of the best shows on television. The game is so fun to watch that I could have only imagined what it’d be like to play. I guess it was a dream come true.”

Anticipation is high for the upcoming celebrity season. Conover will be joined by fellow Bravo stars Bronwyn Newport (The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City), Cynthia Bailey (The Real Housewives of Atlanta), Emira D’Spain (Next Gen NYC), and Gizelle Bryant (The Real Housewives of Potomac), along with other reality stars, athletes, actors, and more.
Additionally, Conover is returning to Southern Charm for its 12th season, which premieres later this month. However, he admitted that he almost didn’t come back this time around.
“Last year was probably the biggest moment in my career where I was just like, ‘Maybe this isn’t for me anymore,'” Conover told us. “In the off-season, I speak around the country and I really try to promote positivity and evolving and the fact that your past doesn’t define who you are. It’s really hard to keep a show fresh after 11 seasons, but the formula, I believe, needed to evolve a little bit.”
In the end, though, he got to a good place with his castmates and felt like his “goals for this new season were met.”
