Beavis and Butt-Head are back to doing what they do best: Sitting on the couch, watching TV, and making questionable decisions. But will they return to do it all again next season?

Season 4 of Mike Judge‘s Beavis and Butt-Head revival — Season 12 overall if one counts the original run of the MTV series and the first revival — premiered October 14 on Comedy Central. While fans can catch up on past seasons on Paramount+, the big question is whether the dim duo will be back for Season 5.

Here is everything we know about Season 5 of Beavis and Butt-Head.

Will there be a Season 5 of Beavis and Butt-Head?

As of October 2026, Comedy Central and Paramount have not officially announced or renewed Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head for a Season 5.

According to reports, Mike Judge is trying to regain control of the U.S. rights to Beavis and Butt-Head from Paramount, which could affect where the animated series airs and who produces future seasons.

According to The Playlist, Beavis and Butt-Head creator Mike Judge reportedly wants to take back ownership of the show from Paramount. Under copyright law, creators can reclaim certain rights to their work after about 35 years.

Since Judge created the characters in 1992, he could potentially regain the U.S. rights starting in 2027. This wouldn’t affect existing episodes or movies, but it could complicate plans for future seasons. Paramount may have to make a new deal with Judge to keep the show, or he could take it to another network or streaming service.

Season 4 is currently airing on Comedy Central, Wednesdays at 10:30/9:30c.

What is Beavis and Butt-Head about?

The original show featured the misfit duo watching music videos, commenting on artists of the time, and appearing in short animated segments featuring the gruesome twosome out and about in their hometown, causing mischief and headaches for the adult population.

In the 2011 revival, Beavis and Butt-Head shifted to mocking reality television, while the Paramount+/Comedy Central revivals expanded their viewing habits to include TikToks, YouTube videos, and viral internet clips.

While the original run strictly kept Beavis and Butt-Head as lazy, apathetic teens in a small town, the modern Paramount+ era introduced a multiverse storyline. This includes episodes featuring them as a middle-aged duo, hyper-intelligent, or alternate-timeline versions of themselves alongside their teenage counterparts.

Despite the changes, the basic premise remains the same: following two numbskull teenagers with a fondness for heavy metal, juvenile humor, and making terrible decisions, much to the frustration of everyone around them.

How many Beavis and Butt-head revivals have there been?

Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head is technically one animated series that has aired across multiple networks and undergone two revivals. The original series aired on MTV for seven seasons from 1993 to 1997, following the duo’s debut on Liquid Television in 1992. The first revival arrived in 2011, bringing Beavis and Butt-Head back to MTV for an eighth season. The second revival launched in 2022, following the release of Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe, with new episodes airing on Paramount+ before the series moved to Comedy Central.
