Reba McEntire’s Son Shelby Blackstock Welcomes First Baby With Wife Marissa

Congratulations are in order for Reba McEntire‘s son, Shelby Steven McEntire Blackstock, and his wife, Marissa, who recently welcomed their first baby together.

The happy couple shared the news in a series of Instagram Stories on Wednesday (October 21), including photos of their newborn son, named Shelby Archer McEntire Blackstock. “After everything it took to get here, we finally get to call ourselves mom and dad,” Blackstock wrote alongside a photo of himself and Marissa.

“We’ve been taking these first few weeks just for us and there’s nowhere else we’d rather be,” he added.

He followed up with a photo of himself holding his son against his bare chest and a video of the newborn resting while wearing an eye mask. “He had a rough first week, but at least he had the look down,” Blackstock wrote over the video.

Marissa also shared a photo on her Instagram Stories that appeared to show her breastfeeding her baby. She shared her son’s full name and revealed that his nickname is “Archie.”

Blackstock and Marissa announced in April that they were expecting their first child. “Oh, BOY! We’re beyond excited to FINALLY announce our little man is coming in October,” the couple wrote on Instagram at the time. “See ya real soon, pal! Mommy + Daddy love you!”

Blackstock is the son of McEntire and Narvel Blackstock, who were married from 1989 to 2015. During the marriage, McEntire also became stepmother to the late Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson‘s ex-husband, who died in August 2025 after a battle with cancer. Clarkson and Brandon had two children together, a daughter, River (12), and a son, Remy (10).

McEntire now has eight grandchildren in total, including her step-grandchildren River and Remy, as well as the children of her stepdaughters Chassidy and Shawna. The country star opened up about being a grandmother to Country Music Is Love in 2014, shortly after Clarkson gave birth to River.

“(They’re) totally as different as night and day from each other,” McEntire said of her grandchildren. “I love every one of them to pieces, and River is going to be so loved in this family.”
