‘Final Fantasy VII Revelation’ Cast Shares Their Favorite Character Lines

Final Fantasy VII Revelation Voice Cast

At their New York Comic Con panel last week, the English voice cast of Final Fantasy VII Revelation — Cody Christian, John Eric Bentley, Matthew Mercer, Travis Willingham, Briana White, Britt Baron, Suzie Yeung, Paul Tinto, J. Michael Tatum, Max Mittelman and Caleb Pierce — gathered in a packed room to celebrate the newest installment of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. And during an exclusive interview in TV Insider’s New York Comic Con suite, they shared more about how much their work means to them.

“A lot of us have been on this journey for years and years and years,” says Christian, who voices ex-solder-turned-mercenary Cloud Strife. “Revelation is the send off, the bittersweet goodbye for a lot of people, fans included. You feel the emotionality in the air.”

“The whole remake series kind of represents the culmination of the old school games that inspired so many people that then came into the industry to create and to be a bastion of good will and hope for the future to want to create things on this grand scale,” explains Mercer, who voices Vincent Valentine. “It’s very exciting to see it being embraced by the community.”

And this goodbye wasn’t without news: In a surprise announcement during the panel, a new voice actor was revealed to have joined the cast for its farewell outing: Critical Role‘s Marisha Ray, who will voice fan-favorite Polydroid Shiva. While NDAs were the name of the game (no spoilers here!), the group was able to dive a little bit into what they were excited for when the game is officially released next year.

“In the last game, Cid was kind of a support character,” says Tatum. “I don’t want to say comedic relief, but he didn’t get a lot of heavy moments and they gave him some heavy moments that I was like, ‘How’s that going to go?’ ‘Oh, that’s going to go’. It was crazy. We live for that kind of stuff.”
