Pat Sajak just made a rare public appearance two years after retiring as the host of Wheel of Fortune.

On Thursday, October 8, Sajak, 79 — whose last WoF episode as host aired in June 2024 — spoke at the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony honoring Air Supply‘s Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock.

Sajak said it was “exciting” to speak about the soft rock duo, as he and his wife, Lesly Brown, are friends with the Air Supply singers.

“I do know a little bit about longevity,” he said. “As was pointed out, I did my little show for over 40 years, and I understand the challenge of trying not to wear out your welcome. But Graham and Russell have been at this for over 50 years, and they continue to entertain their fans and be welcomed by sold-out crowds all around the world.”

Sajak continued, “And it’s because they still do it at such a very high level. They never phone in their performance. They never try to live off their reputation. They go all out each and every time they step on the stage, and they never disappoint.”

Additionally, the former game show host praised Air Supply for the “genuine” connection they have with their fans.

“What a gift these guys have. I mean, not just to entertain people, but to connect with important moments in these people’s lives,” Sajak pointed out. “Air Supply’s music transports their fans back in time to their first dance, their first date, their first wedding. There are so many touchstones in people’s lives, and Air Supply is a big part of so many of them. And that’s a connection that can never be broken.”

Afterward, Sajak posed for photos with Air Supply and David Foster, who also spoke at the ceremony.

Air Supply is best known for songs like “All Out of Love,” “Making Love Out of Nothing at All,” “Lost in Love,” “The One That You Love,” and more.

In June 2024, the last episode of Wheel of Fortune with Sajak as its co-host aired, marking the end of an era after 42 years. Ryan Seacrest took over for him in September 2024, joining Vanna White, who has been with the show since 1982.
