The cohosts of The View were united in their condemnation of Donald Trump and his latest campaign trail speech in which he said he would be willing to sacrifice certain California cities to Iran in the ongoing war.

The panelists started by reviewing footage of Trump in Nebraska, saying of Iran, “They can take out a city. Let them take it. Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay.”

Whoopi Goldberg was the first to react with abject horror, saying, “How has this not enraged people in government? I mean, this is supposed to be the president of the United States. And they say, ‘Oh, no, he’s kidding.’ He doesn’t sound like he’s kidding… Why isn’t anybody on fire that this man is talking about states in his own country?”

“It’s absolute madness,” Alyssa Farah Griffin agreed. She then contrasted it with two campaign-damaging moments from Hillary Clinton (“basket of deplorables“) and Mitt Romney (“47 percent“) and said, “We’re are so used to it that, by tomorrow, no one’s going to remember that he said it.”

After pointing out that Trump’s White House is treating the matter as a “lighthearted thing,” Ana Navarro noted, “The question is, how are the Iranians going to treat it?” She then suggested Trump’s words mean he’s “basically inviting this regime to come out and take two American cities” and said, “I think shame on us if we forget about this tomorrow because we cannot normalize the unhinged, deranged, manic, evil, outrageous behavior by the president of the United States.”

Sunny Hostin agreed with Navarro’s characterization of Trump as “deranged” and noted that, thanks to the population of the two cities mentioned, “We’re talking about 10 million Americans.” She also pointed out that San Diego is the home of Navy SEALs and said, “I think it’s time for people to start taking seriously the possibility of maybe the 25th Amendment.”

Goldberg had the final word, per usual, saying, “This is what he said. Stop trying to to spin it. We’re not stupid. We hear him speaking, and I will say I thought a lot of people were booing, and I was happy to hear that. I was happy to hear that because how dare you? How dare you?! You’re supposed to be the president, man, of all Americans, of all Americans, San Diego, California, New Jersey. How dare you?!”

Whoopi, as always, has the succinct last word.
