Ella Langley‘s smash hit “Choosin’ Texas” was undoubtedly the song of the summer, spending a record-breaking 24 weeks at the top of the Billboard charts. But how much money did the track generate?
According to some number crunching by Billboard, citing data from Luminate, as of September 11, the chart-topping record had generated almost $13.9 million from audio streams, video streams, and digital sales worldwide, as well as radio airplay in the United States. In just the U.S. alone, the song generated nearly $10.5 million in revenue.
Of course, these numbers don’t take into account the contract terms of the artists and songwriters, only the label and publisher revenue.
As of mid-September, Luminate estimated that “Choosin’ Texas” racked up more than 977,000 airplay spins, generating more than $2.4 million in revenue. Combining this number with global publishing royalties ($6 million) and global label revenue ($8 million), the track is sitting around $16 million in revenue overall.
Langley, who took home the Best Country award at the MTV Video Music Awards this past weekend, previously spoke about the song’s success on her Instagram Stories. “It’s changing my life,” she wrote. “It’s changing the lives of the writers of this song. It’s changing the lives of my family.”
She added, “It doesn’t feel like a real thing. It feels fake. Like somebody’s going to come in and be like, ‘Ha ha, we’re kidding the whole time.'”
Langley co-wrote “Choosin’ Texas” with Luke Dick, Miranda Lambert, and Joybeth Taylor. She also produced it with Lambert and Ben West. The track was the lead single from Langley’s second studio album, Dandelion (2026), and was originally released on October 17, 2025.
The song initially debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 39, Langley’s highest debut at the time. However, the track continued to gain momentum in the following months and reached No. 1 on February 9, 2026. It became the first song by a female artist to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts simultaneously.
Week after week, “Choosin’ Texas” continued to break records, surpassing Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and Lil Nas X‘s “Old Town Road” as the longest chart-topping non-holiday hit of all time. It then broke Mariah Carey‘s 22-week record for “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” ultimately reaching an unprecedented 24 weeks at No. 1.
