Fox News Fans Vote for Favorite ‘The Five’ Host: See Who Won
What To Know
- A recent Daily Express US poll asked viewers who their favorite cohost is on Fox News’ The Five.
- The show is hosted by Jesse Watters, Greg Gutfeld, Jessica Tarlov, Dana Perino, and Emily Compagno.
- The results do not look good for Watters.
Fox News anchor Jesse Watters might lead The Five panel in the show’s daily discussions, but he’s far from the leader when it comes to viewers’ favorite host.
The Daily Express US recently held a poll for fans to vote for their favorite The Five host, and it’s not great news for Watters. The weekday political talk show launched in 2011 and features a roundtable of panelists discussing the latest in politics and pop culture.
Watters moderates alongside a panel of cohosts, including Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino, and Jessica Tarlov, the show’s sole liberal commentator. The fifth seat is occupied by Emily Compagno, who officially joined the show earlier this month, replacing former cohost Jeanine Pirro.
According to the Daily Express US poll, the fans’ favorite host is Gutfeld, who amassed 29 percent of the vote. Perhaps, surprisingly, Tarlov came in second with 24 percent, despite being the lone Democrat at the table. Perino, meanwhile, came in third with 23 percent.
Despite arguably being the most well-known, with his own self-titled primetime show on the network, Watters finished in joint last place with Compagno, with 12 percent each.
The results may come as a shock, given that Jesse Watters Primetime tends to be a big ratings winner for Fox News. The show regularly tops 3 million viewers, making it the most-watched cable news program in primetime. In fact, the only cable news show that rates higher is The Five, which regularly pulls in between 3.3 and 3.6 million viewers.
Gutfeld’s self-titled 10 pm talk show has been on the rise the past couple of years and brings in between 2.6 million and 3.5 million total viewers per night, per Fox News Digital. Gutfeld! is often the most-watched late-night show on television, across cable and broadcast.
The biggest blow for Watters, though, is losing in the poll to Tarlov, whom he often argues with on The Five. The pair are known for trading barbs, though the heated discussions usually end in laughter. In fact, Tarlov revealed earlier this month that she considers Watters a friend.
“Jesse Watters and Greg Gutfeld actually care about me as a person,” she revealed in an interview with Marie Claire. “And that doesn’t make them soften their political opinions, even though I think that they should in some cases, especially when they’re enormously wrong.”
