Erin Napier praised her husband in a Wednesday, September 9, Instagram post, while sharing insight into the couple’s homeschooling with their daughters, Helen and Mae. “Imagine having the best elementary history, Bible, math, and poetry teacher ever who tells you stories about the world that make you want to go see them in real life while you listen to spaghetti western soundtracks, and that’s homeschool with @scotsman.co,” she wrote.
Erin’s post featured photos of Ben reading a book on the floor with one of their daughters, as well as snaps of Ben sitting at the kitchen table, seemingly preparing for the next day’s homeschooling lessons.
Fans also shared their praise for Ben in the post’s comments, with one user writing, “Ben loves his history! Love that he takes such a supportive role as a father and husband! Ps the home school kids I meet in my community are mature, healthy-minded kiddos. Polite and can actually hold intelligent conversations.”
Another added, “This is the best! I homeschooled my daughter thru high school and it was wonderful.” Someone else shared, “And getting to do school on the floor ((I was a homeschool kid too)).”

A different person posted, “Is it too late in my adult life to go back to school? Your homeschool sounds amazing! Way to go Mom and Dad!” A separate commenter stated, “You are so blessed that he can partner with you in your education journey! Love this.”
Erin and Ben tied the knot in 2008 and launched their flagship HGTV series, Home Town, in 2016. The couple welcomed Helen in 2018, followed by Mae in 2021. Though Erin and Ben share glimpses of their family life on social media, they don’t show their kids’ faces to protect their privacy.
In an August 13 Instagram post, Erin revealed that homeschooling for the new school year had already begun for her kids. “August weather is gonna try to kill us next week so let’s look at the pleasanter moments shall we?” she wrote alongside snaps of the family’s end-of-summer activities. “School in a barn, supersonic sissies, August birthdays at work, I CAN BRAID!!!! Picnic read aloud, Etc.”
On August 1, Erin shared via Instagram that she and Ben were back to work on Season 11 of Home Town after enjoying vacation time. “When is more Home Town coming? Soon! We just came back to filming from our summer break,” she wrote. “This is a typical day during filming, which runs year round. We have an incredible sitter who is with the girls when we are at work (she was my favorite babysitter when she was a teenager) and my parents fill in too. I love to hear about people’s routines. Do you?”
The upload featured photos from the Napiers’ day of filming, including pics of Helen and Mae getting a head start on their schoolwork. “Easing back into school with rapid fire multiplication facts,” Erin captioned a snap of one of her kids doing times tables on a dry-erase board. “8×4 is harder to remember than all the others.”
