Lindsay Clancy’s defense lawyer Kevin Reddington appeared on Good Morning America on Tuesday (September 8) and made a shocking plea to President Donald Trump.

The outspoken attorney addressed Trump directly, asking him to grant his client a presidential pardon. “Mr. President, I would hope that you would consider this young lady – the type of person she is and what she’s been through – and consider a pardon,” he said, per the New York Post.

Reddington went on to say he hoped Trump would weigh in, since the president “felt compelled to speak out about this case.”

What Reddington didn’t mention is that the president’s comments didn’t appear particularly favorable to Clancy. “It’s a horrible tragedy,” Trump told reporters last week. “Look, she did a horrible, horrible thing. Can’t be worse. But you’ll find out what the price to pay is. There’ll be a price. It’s going to be [a] mental institution or jail or something.”

Clancy’s triple-murder trial ended in a mistrial on Friday (September 4) after the jury remained deadlocked after approximately 38 hours of deliberation across seven days. Clancy stood accused of strangling her three young children to death in January 2023. Her defense argued that she was legally insane at the time due to postpartum psychosis.

Reddington stated that 11 jurors were in favor of an acquittal, but one single male juror voted for a conviction. “I would defend that individual’s right to be a holdout forever; that’s part of our judicial system. I respect that and I would certainly defend his right to do that,” he said on GMA.

The lawyer said his frustration came due to a note from the jury forelady that said the holdout “had doubt but would not apply reasonable doubt” to his vote. “That I objected to,” Reddington added.

He also responded to critics who said Clancy is blaming the killing of her children on mental illness as a form of rationalization.

“These people don’t understand what she went through. They didn’t see her text messages, her journal, the letter she sent her mother in October, ‘I’m sick, something is wrong,'” Reddington stated. “She reached out to everybody who would listen to her and said, ‘I am not well,’ and was ignored.”

You know what? How many independent psychologists and psychiatrists spoke and analyzed her? Let’s see, here’s a scenario for you and why I don’t blame the one jury member for saying she was guilty.

She resents her husband for leaving her. Maybe she blames her children. She goes to a public computer, researches obscure mental illnesses, finds one that fits her situation, and then proceeds laying down the groundwork to build her case. Don’t think it can happen? It has before. Many times. Anyway, she starts “asking” for help and says she’s been denied, and that she tried so hard to do something to stop herself. She takes the life of her children and immediately finds a lawyer who will back her claims of PPP. They find, mostly, sympathetic jurors, news media, and randos on the internet saying she wasn’t believed because of misogyny. Meanwhile, she’s an actual psychopath that just conned a large percentage of the nation into thinking she’s the victim.

It’s actually easier today, with the internet and AI, to give you all you need to put on the performance of a lifetime and get away with whatever you want because people are gullible.
