The Diary Room on Big Brother may be the one place a Houseguest can go to rant and decompress without anyone bothering them. Season 24 winner Taylor Hale revealed that she talked to a psychologist while in the house, as well as other secrets about the upstairs Diary Room.

Hale, cohost of Big Brother: Unlocked, appeared on The Reality of Reality Podcast in July. Hosted by Kate Riccio, the podcast explores what it is actually like being on reality TV from former reality stars.

“Did you guys have therapy on Big Brother?” Riccio asked Hale.

“Yeah,” Hale replied. “So, we have a Diary Room downstairs. That’s all game stuff.”

“There’s also a second Diary Room upstairs. That’s not decorated or anything like that. It’s basically just a black curtain.”

Hale revealed that those who need to take medicine take it in there. If someone was injured from a competition, a doctor would come in and tend to them.

“Then, if you were having a hard time, you could schedule an appointment with a psychologist,” she revealed. “So, when I was really going through it, I went to the Diary Room downstairs and said, ‘Hey, I want to schedule an appointment with the psychologist.’ They said, ‘OK, we’ll reach out and see what time they are available.'”

“When they’re available, they’ll call you to the Diary Room upstairs. You go upstairs, you pick up the phone, put it on speaker, and you just yap and yap and yap.”

“Oh, it’s all over the phone,” Riccio asked.

“Yeah. Yeah. It’s not in person,” Hale said. The winner also shared that the Houseguests are given eight therapy sessions that they can cash in after they leave the house, whether it’s with an established therapist or not.

During her season, the former beauty queen was faced with negative perception and lies told about her by other Houseguests. She faced the bullies with resilience and won the hearts of the Jury to win in an eight-to-one vote, becoming the first Black woman to win the game, and the first person ever to win and take home the America’s Favorite Houseguest prize.

Ronnie Talbott, Season 11 contestant, commented, “D**n… NONE of this was available in 11. We just had to figure it out on our own.”

“Always wondered about the second DR!” a fan said.

“That’s comforting. I’m glad that they do that,” another wrote.

“They…that entire cast….were so incredibly mean to her. And you know what? She is allowed to be a bee for the rest of her life. That whole cast just sucked,” a third said.
