Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy revealed that her husband, Sean Duffy, was given the role of Transportation Secretary because that was all President Donald Trump had left to offer.

Rachel and Sean appeared on the latest episode of The Katie Miller Podcast, hosted by Katie Miller, the wife of White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller. During the episode, the couple spoke about how Sean’s position in the U.S. government came about.

“He said he wanted to serve the president in any way. He ended up in transportation because that was all that’s left,” Rachel said, per Mediaite.

Sean, the former co-host of Fox Business’ The Bottom Line, added, “But the president told me — and I believe this with him — he said, ‘If I wasn’t the president, I would pick the Department of Transportation over any department. It’s the best department, and I’m gonna give it to you.'”

“Because [Trump’s] a builder,” he continued. “And whether it’s roads and bridges, like he’s talking about concrete and bridges and designs and colors, and he loves aviation so that we have a president who cares about the infrastructure of America. Usually, presidents don’t give a sh… darn.”

“He did say, ‘Don’t F it up,'” Rachel added.

Sean first came to the limelight as a reality television star, appearing on The Real World: Boston in 1997. He later appeared on the Road Rules spinoff, where he met Rachel, who had been a cast member on The Real World: San Francisco.

In addition to his TV career, Sean previously served as district attorney of Ashland County, Wisconsin from 2002 to 2010 and as the U.S. representative for Wisconsin’s seventh congressional district from 2011 to 2019. He later served as the acting administrator of NASA from July to December 2025.

Sean and Rachel currently star in the YouTube reality travel series The Great American Road Trip, which follows their journey around the U.S. with their nine children. Sean faced backlash from Democratic senators at a congressional budget hearing in May 2026 over the show and possible conflicts of interest.

Well, at least she is honest about the fact that her husband is in no way qualified to be The Secretary of Transportation.
