What To Know

  • Nicolle Wallace pointed out that President Trump appeared to unintentionally confirm reports about U.S. munition shortages.
  • The MS NOW host argued that Trump’s threat to prosecute leakers validated the accuracy of the leaked info.
  • Wallace’s remarks follow previous instances of Trump criticizing MS NOW reporters.

MS NOW anchor Nicolle Wallace noticed how President Donald Trump appeared to unintentionally confirm a report about the U.S. war with Iran despite attempts to deny it.

The Deadline: White House host discussed reports from Reuters and the Washington Post about the U.S. allegedly running low on long-range missiles. According to the Post, Trump confronted Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth about the “extreme munition shortages” last week.

Trump and the White House have denied the reports, with the president himself taking to Truth Social to share his side of the story. “The U.S. has massive amounts of ‘munitions,’ especially of certain types,” he wrote. “Additionally, large amounts are being manufactured and shipped to the U.S. as needed.”

However, later in the post, he made a threat, writing, “The ‘leakers’ of these treasonous statements are being hunted down. Long term jail sentences will be sought!”

Wallace said that in trying to refute the reporting, Trump “kind of, sort of ended up confirming it.”

“The funny thing is, if any of this is funny, if you’re to prosecute someone for a leak that generally means the information that is in the paper is so true that it’s dangerous,” she continued. “Because lies are not punishable with jail time.”

Wallace said that Trump’s rant basically revealed “the accuracy of reporting while trying to deny it and jail the people at the same time.”

Her comments come just days after openly laughing at the president for lashing out at a fellow MS NOW reporter. At a recent Oval Office press meeting, Trump called Jake Traylor “fake news” and “one of the worst in the business” for asking about interim U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro.

Wallace laughed at Trump’s reaction, saying, “I think we touched a nerve there.”

Trump has been a long-time critic of MS NOW and its reporters. In early 2025, he said that MS NOW (then MSNBC) was “close to death” and that its star anchor, Rachel Maddow, would soon “be off the air.”
