Bill Mumy Pays Tribute to ‘Lost in Space’ Costar Mark Goddard on What Would Have Been 90th Birthday

Bill Mumy paid tribute to his Lost in Space costar, Mark Goddard, on what would have been his 90th birthday.

On Friday, July 24, the former child actor who played Will Robinson took to Instagram with a photo of himself and the late actor who played Major Don West.

“Happy Heavenly Birthday to Mark Goddard,” Mumy captioned the black-and-white photo snapshot. “What a great guy he was. We had so much fun and so many good times together. He is missed. Love to Charles Harvey from Charles William!”

Goddard died at 87 on October 10, 2023, from pulmonary fibrosis.

Lost in Space aired for three seasons from 1965 to 1968. In addition to Mumy and Goddard, it starred Guy Williams, June Lockhart, Marta Kristen, Angela Cartwright, and Jonathan Harris. The 1998 film Lost in Space — in which Matt LeBlanc played Major Don West — also featured cameos from Goddard, Lockhart, Cartwright, and Kristen.

In 2018, a Lost in Space reboot premiered on Netflix; it aired for three seasons, ending in 2021.

Following Goddard’s death, Mumy posted a lengthy Instagram tribute, calling him a “truly beloved friend and brother” for 59 years.

“Shortly after a great phone chat he and I had on his 87th birthday in late July, I became aware that I would most likely never see or speak with him again,” he shared. “The last words we exchanged were ‘I love you.'”

Mumy continued, “There’s a part of me that envisions him having a martini in Heaven right now with Jonathan Harris, Kevin Burns, Guy Williams and other comrades who left this world of woe before him. There’s a part of me that believes he’s in a better place now. A much better place.”
