‘Gone’: Everything to Know About BritBox’s Newest Thriller
BritBox is delivering a new thrill-ride to subscribers this week: Gone. The series centers on a woman’s mysterious disappearance … and the husband becoming the prime suspect, of course.
Here’s everything to know about Gone.
What is Gone about?
The official description for the series tells us, “Headmaster Michael Polly becomes the prime suspect in his wife Sarah’s disappearance, drawing him into a tense game of cat and mouse with Detective Annie Cassidy as she fights to uncover the truth.” The series is partly inspired by the true crime book To Hunt A Killer, cowritten by Detective Superintendent Julie Mackay and ITV Crime Correspondent Robert Murphy, detailing Mackay’s investigation of the murder of Melanie Road in 1984, for which a man was finally caught in 2016.
Who stars in Gone?
The central cast for the series includes David Morrissey as Michael Polly, Eve Myles as DS Annie Cassidy, Emma Appleton as Alana Polly, Jennifer Macbeth as DC Becky Hammond, Arthur Hughes as DI Ivan Pemberley, Nicholas Nunn as Paul Whitchurch, Elliot Cowan as Stephen Sedgewick, Billy Barrett as Dylan Sedgewick, Rupert Evans as Rory Bowman, Jodie McNee as DC Nira Barker, Oscar Batterham as DC Duncan Carmoody, and Clare Higgins as Carol Bradley. The series is written and produced by George Kay and directed by Richard Laxton.
Kay, who consulted with Mackay and Murphy while writing the story, said of Gone, “After teaming up with ITV and New Pictures for true crime drama The Long Shadow, I’m delighted to be working with them again to create a new police drama. In a story about privilege and prejudice, the truth is tantalisingly close. Or at least, that’s what Annie thinks.”
When does Gone premiere?
The series’ first three episodes debut on BritBox on Thursday, July 23. Weekly episodes will then follow on Thursdays until the limited series’ finale on Thursday, August 13. It previously premiered on ITV in March 8.
Is there a trailer for Gone?

I think it sucks that they’ve tricked us into buying into the channel then withholding the rest of the series

Rip off… Even with a Britbox subscription you cannot see all of the episodes. Do not fall for it..

All episodes of Gone are available on BritBox. Unless you pay a fee you can’t see the episodes early, or binge watch. The new episodes are available every Thursday. BritBox did the same thing with the last season of Shetland

No wonder I couldn’t figure out what the hell happened with this series. This is the second time I have watched a series where the final episodes aren’t available or they want me to pay 149.95 for a prime BritBox subscription. I already pay 139.99 for prime plus an extra five dollars for no commercials and 10. Dollars 99 for BritBox. . I’m not getting this except it’s the typical greed model and I have no intention…none …of paying for anything else.

Be careful. Final episodes are not included in basic Britbox subscription.
