Could ‘Leverage’ Be Saved? Boss Reveals Who Would’ve Finally Appeared in ‘Redemption’ Season 4

Some shows are just good entertainment. Leverage, and its sequel, Leverage: Redemption, are two of them. (The original series aired five seasons on TNT from 2008 to 2012, and the follow-up ran three seasons on Freevee and Prime Video from 2021 to 2025.) When we caught up with executive producer Dean Devlin, we, of course, had to ask him about the chances of getting more Leverage at some point.
“Not at Amazon, but I never gave up on the original Leverage and found a way to get it back again,” he told TV Insider. “And we have such a great, loyal fan base that I am very optimistic that at some point I will have a new version of the show someplace else.”
The Season 3 finale of Leverage: Redemption began streaming on Prime Video on June 5, 2025. The series was then canceled later that year, on December 12. Most of the original series’ cast returned for the sequel: Gina Bellman (grifter Sophie Devereaux), Christian Kane (hitter Eliot Spencer), and Beth Riesgraf (thief Parker) were all series regulars, while Aldis Hodge (hacker Alec Hardison) was a special guest star. Timothy Hutton‘s mastermind, Nate Ford, died off-screen prior to the events of the new series. Noah Wyle (fixer Harry Wilson) and Aleyse Shannon (maker Breanna Casey) joined the crew in Redemption.
Should the series have continued for a fourth season, there was one character Devlin really wanted to finally see onscreen — and he had an idea for some casting, too!
“I can’t tell you who would’ve been the focus of it, but the thing I was really looking forward to in Season 4 is I wanted to do Nana’s story and we were going to try to see if we can get Whoopi Goldberg or somebody like that to come and play Nana,” he revealed. (Nana fostered both Hardison and Breanna, and Shannon had told us she wanted Goldberg to play the character as well.) “And that’s kind of the heartbreak because we were really building the Season 4 of finally meeting Nana after all these years. So, if I ever do get the thing back on its feet, Nana has to show up.”

Leverage and Leverage:Redemption were very well written and acted. Eliot spoke about nephews on a couple occasions. That would be fun. Wilson’s daughter would be fun to have around more often. Friends with Breanna. Harley storyline would be good. He could always be the spoiler in a storyline. There’s so many options for stories with the news today: Minneapolis Surge of Ice - missing family members, businesses that went broke, a Asian restaurant in Elk River, MN had ice take the entire staff, leaving the restaurant open and in the hands of patrons. To name a few.

Would love to see more seasons. This cast is one of my all time favorites - great chemistry! Fun to watch.

What I loved about this show (well, one of the things) was that it felt SO GOOD to see it happen when the team was able to "stick it" to the bad guys. "The rich and powerful take what they want.... WE steal it back for you." (I don't think that line is part of the opening anymore in the Redemption series, but it's the whole premise of the show.)

I’d love to see Nate Ford brought back. I know the character died offscreen, but it could have been a long con, like he had to disappear to save Sophie, so he faked his own death.
I agree with others—anyone but Whoopi to play Nana.

Leverage is an amazing show!! And there are plenty of issues in the world today that I would love to see the team tackle for us! And so many ways for the storyline to branch out!
But not Whoopi as Nana. I think Jenifer Lewis, Loretta Devine, Alfre Woodard, or Octavia Spencer would all be better choices.

Sofie's REAL name! Eliot and Maria reunited! . . . Meeting Nana would be cool, but I'd also really love to see Eliot's dad come back on the stage . . . and more of Eliot's backstory, still a lot of redemption needed for Eliot still. . . . and what about Jack, from the "Shakedown in Clone-Town" episode? Sofie and Jack were really good together! I would love to see Jack return to the show, and see their story unfold a little more.

meine absolute Lieblingsserie, ich habe die Orginal auf DVD und die Redemption kann ich noch auf RTL Crime angucken. Die Orginal habe ich auf Deutsch so oft gesehen, dann habe ich begonnen sie auf Englisch zu schauen. Immer wieder schön. Ich drücke fest die Daumen für eine 4. Staffel
