Paul Flack, the older brother of the late British television presenter Caroline Flack, has died after being found unresponsive at his home. He was 55.
According to The Daily Mail, Paul was found unresponsive at his home in Norwich, England, on June 21, just three days after his 55th birthday. Despite attempts from medical staff to save him, he later died at the Norfolk and Norwich hospital.
An official inquest into Paul’s death was opened at Norfolk Coroner’s Court on Monday (June 29). The Mail reports that a provisional post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as cardiac arrest due to hanging.
The 55-year-old, who is survived by his partner and their two children, worked as an artist and graphic designer. He led a private life following Caroline’s passing in February 2020, with his final social media post being a tribute to his sister. “This will be my last post here. May those who know feel shame for eternity,” he wrote. “Love you Caroline.”
Caroline, best known for hosting Love Island U.K. from 2015 to 2019, died by suicide on February 15, 2020. She was 40 years old. Her passing came two months after appearing in court, where she faced charges of assault following an incident with her boyfriend, Lewis Burton.
Coroner Mary Hassell confirmed in August 2020 that Caroline died from hanging. A two-day inquest also revealed that the public scrutiny stemming from her pending trial contributed to her death. Although Caroline pleaded not guilty to the charge, she learned she was going to be prosecuted and took her own life ahead of the planned March 4 trial.
“I find the reason for her taking her life was she now knew she was being prosecuted for certainty, and she knew she would face the media, press, publicity — it would all come down upon her,” Hassell said in her report, adding, “Her trauma was played out in the national press and that was incredibly distressing for her.”
In the 2025 Hulu docuseries, Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth, Caroline’s mother said the authorities let her daughter down. She argued that Caroline’s celebrity status was the reason she was charged, telling authorities, “No real evidence was put forward. If it was an ordinary person, you wouldn’t have been bothered. You should be disgusted with yourself. That girl killed herself because you put an appeal through.”
