What To Know

  • CBS Mornings rebounded after a post-60 Minutes turmoil dip, becoming the only morning show to post week-to-week growth in viewers and demo.
  • Despite the recent gains, CBS Mornings was down compared to the same period last year.
  • NBC’s Today continued to hold onto the top spot, while ABC’s Good Morning America saw week-to-week declines.

After a noticeable drop in viewers following Scott Pelley’s firing from 60 Minutes earlier this month, CBS Mornings bounced back on the week of June 15, becoming the only morning show to record week-to-week growth in both total viewers and the coveted Adults 25-54 demographic.

According to AdWeek, citing Nielsen’s national live+same-day big data plus program ratings, CBS Mornings averaged 1.7 million total viewers and 274,000 demo viewers for the week of June 15. This was up 3 percent in total viewers and up 4 percent in the demo compared to the week before.

This is a turnaround following a significant ratings dip amid the recent turmoil at CBS News and 60 Minutes. Per Nielsen numbers, CBS Mornings averaged 1.8 million total viewers and 313,000 viewers in the key 25-54 demographic the day Pelley was fired, and dropped to an average of 1.59 million total viewers and 225,000 demo viewers in the days following the firing.

However, things weren’t as positive when compared to the same period in 2025. CBS Mornings, hosted by Gayle King and Nate Burleson, was down 9 percent in total viewers and down 13 percent in the demo. It was the only morning show to post declines in both measured categories.

NBC’s Today show remained at the top spot, averaging 3.048 million total viewers and 686,000 demo viewers for the week of June 15. This was down 1 percent in total viewers but up 1 percent in the key demo compared to the week prior.

Today, co-hosted by Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin, was also up significantly on the same period in 2025, with total viewers up 23 percent and the demo up 24 percent. It was the only morning show to see gains in both categories year over year.

Meanwhile, ABC’s Good Morning America averaged 2.836 million total viewers and 457,000 demo viewers for the week of June 15. It was the only show to be down in both categories compared to the week before, with a 1 percent decrease in total viewers and a 6 percent decrease in the key demo.

GMA, co-hosted by Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, and Michael Strahan, was up year over year in total viewers, with a 7 percent increase. However, it was down 6 percent in the demo.

We are not watching anything on CBS any more. I am especially enjoyed their Sunday morning programming, 60 minutes, and sometimes their nightly news but I appreciate independent journalism more.

We have dropped all CBS viewing. If you can’t trust the news programming, what are you going to get with the rest of their programming. At any rate, there shows have gone downhill anyway.

Viewership has dropped because they are boring and uneven in their reporting. Period.
