Joy Behar Makes Backhanded Offer to JD Vance After ‘Best Friends’ Comment on ‘The View’
After JD Vance complimented Joy Behar as being “tougher than the Irianians,” following his appearance on the daytime talk show, the cohost had an offer for the vice president to share on The View‘s Wednesday (June 24) episode.
During a discussion of the misconceptions of midlife as a “crisis,” Alyssa Farah Griffin showed off a headline about their episode with Vance, which read, “JD Vance Went on ‘The View’ and Got Absolutely Torn to Shreds by Middle-Aged Women.”
“I am going to sue for defamation, though, I am not middle-aged,” Griffin, who is 37, then joked.
Sara Haines then noted Vance’s subsequent comments — specifically, he said, “Look, Joy Behar is way tougher than the Iranians, and she and I are best friends now…” — and that’s when Behar joked, “I’ll call the Ayatollah for you, JD.”
“Honestly, I would trust you more,” Griffin then said.
Whoopi Goldberg echoed that statement, saying, “I would trust you before him,” before turning back to the subject at hand.
Vance had also claimed that, after the June 16 interview, he and Behar were “best friends,” since she’d spoken positively about the interview. However, it appears from this bit of banter that is not the case.
Plus, on Tuesday’s edition of the Behind the Table podcast, Behar previously addressed Vance’s comments about their newfound friendship, saying, “Well, I don’t know about that.” Behar added, “It’s funny that he wants to be friends with me. Why?… I don’t approve of his positions. I definitely don’t approve of Donald Trump and his positions.”
However, Behar also spared a kind word for Vance in that conversation, saying, “People talk about how the parties and the people in this country are so divisive. I think that I could help the situation, because I have a way about me. I had a manager that described me this way: ‘Joy will tell you go f**k yourself, and you say thank you.’ It’s my sense of humor. And I have to give it to [Vance], the guy used the joke. He used it as a joke. He has a sense of humor, which is a sign of something.”
