Clint Eastwood’s Son Sets Record Straight About Iconic Actor’s Retirement

Clint Eastwood‘s son just set the record straight about the iconic actor’s reported retirement.

In an interview with ScreenRant published on June 9, Clint’s son, Scott Eastwood, 40, clarified his 96-year-old father’s retirement status.

“We’ll see. I have not heard that from his mouth at all,” the Longest Ride actor replied, when asked whether his dad had officially retired from show business. “So I don’t know what that feels like.”

Scott continued, “His career in general has been something to admire, something to be inspired by, and continues to inspire me. The work, the artistry that he’s done on and off screen. Producing, writing, composing, directing, acting. The body of work is incredible.”

Earlier in June, reports circulated online after the Gran Torino star’s older son, Kyle Eastwood, 58, suggested that his father might be done with acting, directing, and producing after seven decades in the industry.

“I have many fond memories of working with him. Now he’s retired, he’s 95 years old,” Kyle, a film composer and jazz musician, told France 3 in November, per The Independent.

He added, “I was very lucky to be able to work with him on quite a few films. It was a great experience for me.”

Through the years, Clint and Kyle have collaborated on movies such as Million Dollar Baby (2004), Letters from Iwo Jima (2006), Gran Torino (2008), and Invictus (2009). Clint’s last onscreen appearance was in Cry Macho (2021). Meanwhile, his most recent turn as a director was for 2024’s Juror #2, starring Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette.

Clint has not officially announced his retirement, as of writing. Still, he doesn’t have any publicly-revealed projects on the horizon.

In addition to his two sons, Kyle and Scott, Clint is the father of six daughters — Laurie, Kimber, Kathryn, Morgan, Alison Eastwood (an actress, director, and producer), and actress Francesca Eastwood — with six different women.
