The Sandlot cast is officially reuniting for a new comedy series called Dugout Dads.
On Tuesday, June 9, Patrick Renna — who played Hamilton “Ham” Porter in the 1993 coming-of-age film — confirmed the big news on social media. “The gang’s back together again,” he announced alongside an article from Deadline sharing the details of the upcoming show.
Through Renna’s production company with Kyle Howard, Hambino Media (a callback to his Sandlot character), Renna and several cast members are teaming up for the show. Dugout Dads will feature appearances from Tom Guiry (Scotty Smalls), Chauncey Leopardi (Michael “Squints” Palledorous), Marty York (Alan “Yeah-Yeah” McClennan), Brandon Quintin Adams (Kenny DeNunez), Victor DiMattia (Timmy Timmons), Shane Obedzinski (Tommy “Repeat” Timmons), Grant Gelt (Bertram Grover Weeks), and Wil Horneff (Phillips).
Additionally, Boy Meets World star Danielle Fishel will play Renna’s wife.
In the comments, Renna’s Instagram follower rejoiced over the news. One declared, “Congrats!! Can’t wait to see this!”
Another shared, “I love that THE SANDLOT still lives on in the hearts of many! It was one of my all-time favorite movies!”
Someone else pointed out, “You got Topanga as your wife on the show?! Snap! 🔥.”
A different follower joked, “Finally s’more!”
Meanwhile, yet another Instagram user commented, “Let’s play ball!”

Although Dugout Dads features many Sandlot stars, all of its characters are original and unrelated to The Sandlot. The show follows an “idealistic dad,” played by Renna, who volunteers to coach his kids’ Little League baseball team. He soon “discovers that the most unruly players on the field aren’t the 10-year-olds… they’re the other coaches, parents, and sometimes himself,” per Deadline.
“After years of coaching Little League, I’ve witnessed some truly epic meltdowns on the field, and it’s always the adults (I’d be lying if I said it was never me). I just knew those experiences had to become a show,” Renna explained. “What makes it even more special is that it’s bringing me back together with the cast of The Sandlot, guys I’ve shared a unique bond and brotherhood with for more than 30 years. It feels like a story I was meant to tell, with exactly the right people to tell it with.”
A release date for Dugout Dads has not yet been announced, although it is set to come out later this year. Sebastian Jones and Dan Kopelman will serve as writers, with Victor Nelli Jr. directing, and Victoria Fradkin producing alongside Renna and Howard.
