‘CBS Evening News’ Ratings Revealed After Shocking ’60 Minutes’ Firings

- CBS Evening News experienced a significant week-over-week ratings drop the same week the network fired 60 Minutes staff.
- ABC World News Tonight remained the top-rated evening newscast, despite a slight weekly decline.

The latest evening news ratings are in, and it was bad news across the board for the three major networks, with CBS Evening News hit particularly hard in its week-over-week numbers.
According to AdWeek, citing national live+same-day big data plus program ratings from Nielsen, CBS Evening News with Tony Dokoupil averaged 3.787 million total viewers and 493,000 viewers in the coveted Adults 25-54 demographic for the week of May 25.
Compared to the previous week, the show was down 6 percent in total viewers and down 19 percent in the demo. This marked a downturn after recent rises for CBS Evening News.
The show’s ratings drop came the same week CBS News fired 60 Minutes executive producers Tanya Simon and Draggan Mihailovich, as well as correspondents Cecilia Vega and Sharyn Alfonsi, and a week after Anderson Cooper said his final farewell to the program.
However, CBS Evening News was up slightly on the same period last year, increasing by 5 percent in total viewers and 1 percent in the key demo.
Elsewhere, ABC World News Tonight with David Muir led the week with an average of 7.824 million total viewers and 961,000 demo viewers. This was down 4 percent in viewers and down 1 percent in the demo compared to the week prior.
Compared to the same period in 2025, World News Tonight was up 11 percent in total viewers and up 9 percent in the demo.
Meanwhile, NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas finished in second place with 5.955 million total viewers and 800,000 demo viewers for the week of May 25. This was down by 2 percent in total viewers and down 8 percent in the demo compared to the week before.
Nightly News was up 4 percent in total viewers compared to the same period last year but down 4 percent in the demo, making it the only newscast to post a decline in this category.

I used to watch this newscast, now it shills CEO’s and is basically irrelevant.
The gutting of 60 minutes and what Weiss has done to the News division made this happen.

I quit watching CBS for the most part although I would watch Stephen Colbert on YouTube, but even that's gone now. I didn't even bother with Georgie and Mandy or Ghosts this last season because I wanted nothing to do with CBS. I will not be subscribing to Paramount for the yellow jackets last season. Which is sad, but I refuse to give Paramount and CBS anymore of my money and time.

CBS is off our TV. We noticed that it was becoming more Trump friendly so it is history. What a shame. Pelley was quality just as the others so CBS made another stupid decision. Hiring unqualified people seems to be the trend now. We still have other choices.

The only show I watched on CBS was Colbert and 60 Minutes. I canceled Paramount back when the cancellation of Colbert was announced. I won't be watching any CBS news anymore. The only thing I can reluctantly watch from now on is Sports, primarily NFL Football. That will end when they can no longer afford the NFL contract.

Because the way 60 minutes is going it’ll all going to be fake news as well. I did not renew my Paramount Plus/CBS. I was on auto renew and I have cancelled it. I hope others do this too. It id definitely time to take a stand by boycotting. Boycotting was very big in the 70's. Hit them where it hurts by not paying into their programming.

I watch very few news programs any more The news is no longer reported objectively. It divides the people in this country. Just state the facts and report what's happening. Most of the programming that is covered is slanted to the left. PBS never points out the two sides of a story. Just the left. Many networks reported on Russian collusion for years. And it all turned out to be bogus I could go on And on. And then we have the hate shows
One of the biggest hate shows was Colbert. Not a very funny guy in my opinion. Just Trump bashing night after night. Jimmy Kimmel was a close second. His so called jokes about Charlie Kirk , hit an all time comedian low. I'm so glad these shows were finally cancelled.
