‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Will ‘Station 19’s Maya, Owen & Nick Die in Final 2 Episodes?
What To Know
- As Grey’s Anatomy heads into a brief break before the final two episodes, an ABC teaser spells trouble for multiple characters.
- The lookahead puts Station 19‘s Maya, as well as Owen and Nick, in potentially grave danger.
There are just two episodes left in Grey’s Anatomy Season 22, and it looks like they’ll both be doozies — and possibly very deadly. In ABC’s preview for the final two episodes, which air on Thursday, April 30, and Thursday, May 7, there’s a lot going on … including a Station 19 alum’s grim return, the disappearance of Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd), and the serious injury of Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman)!
First, we get a glimpse of the penultimate episode, “Through the Fire,” in which Ben Warren (Jason George) finds one of his former colleagues, Maya Bishop (Danielle Savre), arriving by ambulance after a structure fire leaves her badly injured and in need of an emergency operation from Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) and Link (Chris Carmack). She appears to be burned, but if Amelia and Link are getting involved, she must also have injuries to the brain, spine, and/or her bones.
Then, it seems, we find out the meaning of the finale’s title, “Bridge over Troubled Water,” as Ben informs Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) of a bridge collapse, and Owen is shown passed out in a car as it quickly floods with water. Uh oh! As Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) rallies the troops for what is an “all-hands-on-deck situation,” we learn that Owen is not the only one in grave danger. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) arrives to request that Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) rush to OR2 to treat her love, Nick, who appears banged up on the stretcher and must have internal injuries if Bailey is urgently needed.
So could any or all of these characters be in grave danger? Absolutely.
For one thing, Maya, who’s married to Carina (Stefania Spampinato), hasn’t been seen in two years, since Station 19 came to an end. Though the series’ dream-future epilogue showed her future as captain of the firehouse and raising kids with Carina, that isn’t necessarily written in stone.
Owen, meanwhile, is expected to depart Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, along with Teddy, in the events of the finale. Shonda Rhimes teased that they’d have a “happy ending” and that they could somehow return to the show in the future, but as we’ve seen from Meredith’s Covid fever dream cameos, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll survive.
As for Nick, well, the actor portraying him is currently starring in a fellow ABC original, R.J. Decker. Though showrunner Meg Marinis told TV Insider at the start of the season that the plan was to keep him in the fold — “We will still see Nick. Luckily, it’s the same [network] family, but I think that’s just gonna be about scheduling,” she explained — no one is ever safe on Grey’s, and history has a tendency to repeat itself on this show, too. Could Meredith lose another great love, after all?
