“9-1-1, what’s your emergency?” The 118 needs help!

TV Insider has an exclusive sneak peek of the Thursday, April 2, episode of 9-1-1, and it shows the 118 in the middle of chaos — in the aftermath of a call, it appears. In Season 9 Episode 16, titled “Where There’s Smoke,” the 118 will be facing questions regarding a fire call, and this clip shows citizens of Los Angeles surrounding them and demanding answers themselves.

“It’s all your fault!” and “We almost died!” are shouted at the firefighters. It’s up to Chimney (Kenneth Choi), as captain, to take control of the situation, and he seems to be doing all he can to do so. But when a bottle is thrown their way and hits the truck, Chimney must give the order, “Firefighters, take cover in the truck!” The 118 retreats inside — and that is not easy — as people rage around the vehicle, even climbing on it.

Eddie (Ryan Guzman) asks, “What the hell is happening?” while Harry (Elijah M. Cooper) asks, “What are we going to do, Cap?” Chimney radios dispatch. Watch the full video above for more.

In tonight’s episode, ABC teases, “The 118 must account for every decision made during a recent fire call when the team’s actions are investigated for possible mistakes. Meanwhile, Buck [Oliver Stark] works behind the scenes to support his team as he waits to learn if he can return to the station.”

It was in the previous episode that Buck admitted to his use of and withdrawal from opioids he’d been prescribed for the injuries he sustained when he was kidnapped during his and Eddie’s trip home from Nashville. The team gathered to help him through his recovery, and the assumption was that since Buck self-reported, that would be taken into account when considering his future with the LAFD.
