Pamela Anderson is speaking out. A documentary film about Anderson’s life in the public eye has been in development for years and has found a home at Netflix, the streaming service announced Wednesday.

The announcement came with a photo of a hand-written note from Anderson.

“My life / A thousand imperfections / A million misperceptions / Wicked, wild and lost / Nothing to live up to / I can only surprise you / Not a victim, but a survivor / And alive to tell the real story,” she wrote.

“Pamela Anderson is ready to tell her story in a new documentary,” Netflix said in a statement. “The film, which has been in the making for several years, will feature the pop culture icon setting the record straight as she looks back on her professional path and her personal journey.”

Ryan White (The Keepers, Ask Dr. Ruth) directed the documentary and was given access to Anderson, never-before-seen archival footage, and the Baywatch star’s personal journals, according to Deadline.

Hulu’s fictional series Pam & Tommy stars Lily James and Sebastian Stan as Anderson and Tommy Lee. Also starring Seth Rogen and Nick Offerman, it tells the story of how Anderson and Lee’s sex tape was stolen and released without their consent and the subsequent aftermath.

Anderson wouldn’t publicly comment on the series. A source close to the star told Entertainment Weekly Anderson did not give her permission to James or the showrunners when they reached out.

Lee did speak with Stan about the show, which was made possible when the producers optioned the rights to a 2014 article in Rolling Stone detailing the story of the tape’s theft.

“I do know she’ll never, never watch this,” the source said. “Not even years from now. Not even the trailer.”

The documentary — and Anderson’s involvement — seemingly confirms her reported feelings about Pam & Tommy.

The unnamed film is produced by White, Jessica Hargrave, Julia Nottingham, and Anderson’s son, Brandon Thomas Lee. Josh Braun is executive producing. The production companies Dorothy St Pictures and Tripod Media are developing the film.
