The October 20 episode of Dancing With the Stars is bound to be an emotional one, as the remaining 10 contestants perform tributes in honor of Dedication Night. For Jenna Dewan, that will be a Viennese Waltz to “Unchained Melody” by The Righteous Brothers for her mother, Nancy Bursch.
Dewan’s week has been marred with controversy after her dance partner, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, was suspended due to a social media comment he made after Carrie Ann Inaba criticized his wife Jenna Johnson‘s choreography during the October 13 episode. She’ll be dancing with Alan Bersten on Dedication Night instead, and Bursch will join them on the dance floor.

Who is Jenna Dewan’s mom?
Bursch is retired but previously worked at Johnson and Johnson Health Care Systems for nearly 25 years. She started as a district manager in 1989, then became a field director for public health systems and reimbursement in 1993. After 11 years, Bursch was promoted to strategic market director, a position she held until 2013, per LinkedIn.
Dewan was a young child when her parents divorced, and she was mostly raised by her single mother. “My parents split up when I was a year old, and due to life circumstances, [my mother] had to pick herself up, get a job and become a single working mom,” she previously told Vegas magazine. “[Moving so frequently] completely informed my life and personality in very positive ways. I learned social skills I don’t think I would have [with] a different upbringing. In a lot of ways I am really grateful for it. I’m also very conscious and aware of it, so it’s something that [explains] how I am, who I am, and probably greatly prepared me for life in Hollywood.”

Who is Jenna Dewan’s dad?
Dewan’s dad is Darryll Dewan, the CEO of TSS (Total Site Solutions). He has held the position since 2022, and LinkedIn notes that the company is a “trusted provider of data center facilities and information infrastructure services.”
Prior to forming his own company, Darryll worked ad Dell Technologies from 2007 to 2022. He was the executive vice president of global sales for five years before becoming VP of global sales and field marketing in cyber software.
Darryll attended the University of Notre Dame on a football scholarship and played for three years at the college.
Who are Jenna Dewan’s stepparents?
Both of Dewan’s parents have remarried. Her mom is now married to Claude Brooks Smith, while Darryl married wife Carol Dewan in 2021.
Dewan attended her father’s wedding and wrote on Instagram, “To my dad and Carol, i wish you a lifetime of happiness! What a special beautiful day combining families, we are so beyond blessed. I love you all so much.”
