‘Dancing With the Stars’: All About Jenna Dewan’s Fiancé & Relationship History
Jenna Dewan is returning to her dance roots as a contestant on Season 35 of Dancing With the Stars. She and partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy will make their ballroom debut as a pair during Night 2 of the premiere on September 16.
Amid her DWTS journey, Dewan will have the support of her fiancé, Steve Kazee. He’s already publicly shown her love, writing on Instagram after the show’s premiere party, “I cannot wait to watch her shine and for all of you to see what I get to see every day: the most incredible bright light with a heart as big as that mirrorball.”
In his September 12 post, Kazee continued, “I’ve seen firsthand just how hard she’s been working these past few weeks, and watching her challenge herself, push outside her comfort zone, and throw herself into learning something new around something she loves so much has been pretty damn inspiring.”
Below, we rounded up everything to know about Dewan and Kazee’s relationship and family, as well as her previous marriage to a famous face.
Who is Steve Kazee?
Kazee is an actor and singer who first rose to prominence in the theater scene. He won a Tony Award in 2012 for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical after originating the role of Guy in Once on Broadway. He and his castmates also won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
Kazee’s television credits include Drop Dead Diva, Nashville, and The Walking Dead. He was Gus Pfender on 14 episodes of Shameless and has been in five episodes of Dewan’s show The Rookie between 2021 and 2025.
Recently, Kazee started a Substack, explaining, “I’ve spent a lot of my life telling other people’s stories. Getting comfortable telling my own has been a different thing entirely. A little scary. A little weird. And, as it turns out, something I really needed.”
How did Jenna Dewan meet Steve Kazee?
Dewan first met Kazee in 2012 while he was starring in Once on Broadway. At the time, she was married to Channing Tatum, but took her mom to the show and was “enamored” by it. Afterward, she and her mom waited for the cast at the stage door, and she had a brief interaction with Kazee and told him how amazing he was.
“We waited for a few minutes, and he appeared. I was pushing her forward to say hi, and Steve and I just had one of those eye-catching moments,” Dewan told The Knot in 2021. “It was very quick, but it struck us both. It was a moment.”
Years later, when it was publicized that she and Tatum had separated, the two reconnected. “He apparently never forgot that moment [at the stage door] either,” Dewan said on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast.
Kazee DMed Dewan on Twitter (now X) with a GIF of Steph Curry shooting a basketball. “He said, ‘Hey,’ and I wrote back and I said, ‘I’m so sorry I don’t think this is for me.’ I didn’t get it at all.” It caught her attention, though.
How many kids does Jenna Dewan have?
Dewan is a mom to three children. With Tatum, she welcomed a daughter, Everly, in May 2013. She then gave birth to a son, Callum, her first child with Kazee, in March 2020. In June 2024, she and Kazee welcomed their daughter, Rhiannon.

Everly is now a teenager and is following in her mom’s dancing footsteps. After initially focusing only on Irish dance, she’s now on her school’s dance and cheerleading teams, as well.
Everly is also a huge DWTS fan, and in 2025, she begged her famous mom to go to the finale. Dewan got the hookup after putting in a call for tickets. “Maybe somehow I was put on the radar for being at the finale,” Dewan told People in September 2026. “I have no idea, but this is the first time [I’ve been asked].”
What happened between Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum?
Dewan and Tatum started dating after meeting on the set of Step Up, the 2006 movie they starred in together. After getting engaged in September 2008, they tied the knot the following July.
In April 2018, after nearly nine years of marriage, Dewan and Tatum announced they were separating. “We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple,” they wrote in a joint statement. “We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now. There are no secrets or salacious events at the root of our decision–just two best friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives possible.”

Six months later, Dewan filed for divorce. The exes were declared legally single in November 2019, but specifics regarding their property assets and child custody arrangement remained unsettled.
It wasn’t until September 2024 that Dewan and Tatum reached an official settlement and finalized their divorce. This allowed them to avoid going to trial, where they would have both been expected to testify about their finances. The former couple had been in a years-long argument about whether he had hidden profits made on Magic Mike while they were married.
Per divorce docs obtained by E!, Dewan and Tatum agreed that they will each receive 50% of each other’s retirement benefits earned during their marriage. The pair also both waived spousal support and agreed to separately deal with any future custody issues with a judge.
