Who Is Candace Cameron Bure’s Husband? All About Her Marriage & Family
Candace Cameron Bure is opening herself to a whole new world of challenges as a recruit on Season 5 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. In her personal life, the former child star recently became a grandmother two times over and recently told Swooon that she’s looking forward to spending a lot of time with her family during this season.
Candace has been married to her husband, Valeri Bure, for 30 years. She was just 20 years old when they tied the knot in 1996. Two years later, they began building a family together.
In a preview for the October 15 episode of Special Forces, Candace got emotional as she discussed her weakness as a leader. “I live with an alpha, and I am a beta. [My husband] does everything for me because he’s a good leader,” she explained.

Who is Valeri Bure?
Valeri Bure is a former professional ice hockey player from Russia. He played in the NHL from 1995 to 2004. During his pro hockey career, Valeri played for the Montreal Canadiens, Calgary Flames, Florida Panthers, St. Louis Blues, and Dallas Stars. He also represented Russia at the Olympics in 1998 and 2002, taking home silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Valeri retired from hockey in 2005 after a series of back and hip injuries. He also cited wanting to spend more time with his wife and family as the reason for his retirement.
Today, Valeri runs his and Candace’s winery Bure Family Wines, which they opened in 2006 after his retirement.
How did Candace Cameron Bure meet her husband?
Candace and Valeri met at a charity hockey game when she was 18 and he was 20. He was playing in the game and Candace was invited by her Full House costar Dave Coulier. She attended with Bob Saget and Lori Loughlin.
Coulier introduced Candace and Valeri at the game. In 2021, Candace reflected on her first meeting with Valeri in an Instagram post, and Saget commented, “When Val gave you his sweaty jersey after the game I knew it was a done deal.”
Although Candace and Valeri have been together for more than 30 years, she admitted that they went through a “rough patch” in their marriage in 2020. “It was going south quickly, and we were like, ‘I don’t know, don’t think… we’re gonna make it through,” Candace shared on her podcast.
She credited their kids with saving the relationship after they gave a “45-minute sermon on marriage to us. [My son] just had his Bible open on the couch and just talked about it.”
How many kids does Candace Cameron Bure have?
Candace and Valeri are parents to three children. Their daughter Natasha was born in 1998 when Candace was 22 years old. Sons Lev and Maksim followed in 2000 and 2002.
In 2026, the couple became grandparents when Natasha and Lev both welcomed babies. Natasha married Bradley Steven Perry in September 2025. Their daughter, Winnie, was born in October 2026. Lev tied the knot with wife Elliott in January 2024 and they welcomed their son, Bond, in August 2026.
Bond was born 10 weeks early and spent nearly six weeks in the hospital. Lev and Elliott brought him home at the end of September.
