What To Know

  • Dancing With the Stars fans thought Jenna Dewan and Val Chmerkovskiy had too much chemistry during the October 6 episode.
  • Steve Kazee, who Dewan’s been in a relationship with since 2018, responded to the concerns with an Instagram comment.
  • He insisted that he and Chmerkovskiy’s wife, Jenna Johnson, are unbothered by Dewan and Chmerkovskiy’s connection.

Things got steamy on the dance floor for Jenna Dewan and Val Chmerkovskiy on October 6 when they danced a rumba to Mariah Carey‘s “My All” for Dancing With the Stars. The rumba is a notoriously sexy dance, and fans noticed how much things were heating up between the dance partners during the live show.

“Seeing Jenna put her leg on Val after that dance…idc I’d start a fight,” one person posted. Others also noticed this particular moment, which took place as they were in the skybox about to receive their scores and posted about it. One commenter even claimed that the two “accidentally kissed” while dancing together.

A content creator compiled a bunch of these clips into one video, which caught the attention of Steve Kazee, whom Dewan has been in a relationship with since 2018 (they got engaged in 2020). Kazee popped into the comments section to shut down discourse from all sides.

“They don’t have chemistry. They have too much chemistry. They have chemistry in the wrong places. Make up your minds,” he wrote. “Y’all really got too much time on your hands. The spouses are unbothered stay hatin.'” Chmerkovskiy has been married to fellow DWTS pro Jenna Johnson, who’s partnered with Harry Shum Jr. this season, since 2019.

Kazee then followed up with a second message, writing, “Also put some respect on my queen’s name and at least pronounce her name correctly when you try to slander her.”

Since Dewan’s DWTS casting was announced in September, she’s been the subject of scrutiny and criticism due to her extensive past dance experience. However, the Step Up star has made it clear that her experience is not in ballroom dance, so a lot of what she’s doing on the show is new.

“There’s parts of my dance training that’s helpful, obviously,” she admitted to Entertainment Weekly. “I’ve learned choreography, I can perform, but there is a certain sense of unlearning for me. It’s a new technique, brand new technique. It almost threw me off initially because I had to unlearn a lot of — I don’t want to say bad habits — but just habits of the style that I’m used to.”
