New Hallmark hunk, incoming! Though he’ll soon appear in the network’s upcoming A Grand Biltmore Christmas, James Trevena will star in A Knight to Remember. The new romance follows museum conservator Emily (Julie Gonzalo), who kisses the statue of an English knight (Trevena) and magically brings him to life.
Before he literally became a knight in shining armor for Hallmark, the 40-year-old actor was suiting up for MTV’s fantasy series The Shannara Chronicles, where he met his longtime love. Since Trevena is fairly new to the Hallmark romance world, Swooon naturally had to do a deep dive into his off-screen romance. Who is James Trevena’s girlfriend?
Trevena has been in a relationship with Baquero, his Shannara Chronicles costar, for over a decade. The 32-year-old Spanish actress played Eretria in the series, which began in 2015, but she began her career at 11 years old by starring as Ofelia in Pan’s Labyrinth. She’s recently starred in Spartacus: House of Ashur and A Widow’s Game.
“It was so easy for me to fall in love with you and everything you are,” Trevena wrote on Instagram for their 10-year anniversary. “But to have you love me back, that was the true gift. You were, are and will always be my everything. From our first kiss to our last it’ll always be you. Te Amo.”

The couple met when they filmed their MTV show in New Zealand and are now based in Los Angeles.
“[Five] years ago me and @ivanabaquero kept it very quiet on set during #shannara,” Trevena wrote on Instagram in 2020. “No one knew about us. And we didnt want to be seen around each other all the time. So we would open our trailer windows and just smile at each other. This was my view. And what a view it was. #truestory #happy5years.”
Is James Trevena married?
On August 31, 2020, Trevena shared that he’d proposed to Baquero. The actress showed off her diamond ring in a few snapshots shared on X. The couple doesn’t appear to have tied the knot yet, per social media.

Does James Trevena have kids?
The fiancées don’t have any children, though they were dog parents to the late Scruffy, who Trevena often posted on his Instagram. He called Baquero and Scruffy his “two forever valentines” in one post.
In 2021, his fiancé gifted him with a family portrait including Scruffy, and a few years later, Trevena shared a photos of Baquero’s birthday cake, which was modeled after Scruffy.
