In Judge Judy Sheindlin’s new primetime special, Judge Judy: Unfiltered, Unforgettable, fans will get a look back at her career as a television judge, as well as her life away from the desk. Of course, that includes the family she’s built with her husband, Jerry Sheindlin.
Judy had her kids with her first husband, Ronald Levy, whom she divorced in 1976 after 12 years of marriage. She then went on to marry Jerry in 1977, and they blended their families, as he had three children from his previous relationship with Suzanne Rosenthal.

How many biological children does Judge Judy have?
Judy has two biological children. Her first child was her daughter, Jamie, who was born in 1966. She mostly lives life out of the public eye and has been described as a “stay-at-home mother” in a profile about one of her family members. Per The New York Post, Jamie is married to a Massachusetts cop named Kenny Barber.
In 1968, Judy and Ronald welcomed their second child, a son named Adam Levy. He has followed in his mother’s legal and television footsteps. Adam attended law school at Hofstra University and previously worked as the District Attorney in Putnam County, New York. He served from 2007 to 2015.
After years of working as a prosecutor and private attorney, Adam served as a judge on the Prime Video series Tribunal Justice, which his mother created. He left the show after Season 3 in 2026 to star on his own courtroom television show, Adam’s Law, which premiered in September 2026. Judy officially retired from onscreen work and passed the baton onto her son.
Since 1995, Adam has been married to Lori Leichtman.
Who are Judge Judy’s stepchildren?
Through her marriage to Jerry, Judy has three stepchildren. Jerry and Suzanne’s eldest son, Gregory, was born in 1964. He graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 1989, and he now works at Sheindlin Law. Gregory married his wife, Laurie Pila, an interior designer, in 2012, according to The New York Times.
Jerry and Suzanne’s second child is Jonathan Sheindlin, born in 1967. Jonathan works as an ophthalmologist in New York City after attending New York Medical College, St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital Center, and Harvard University Medical School.
Nicole Sheindlin is the youngest of Judy’s three stepkids. She was born in November 1968. Nicole also went into law and even attended Judy’s alma mater, New York Law School. Today, she runs the Mentzer & Sheindlin law practice with her husband, David Mentzer, and is also the CEO of Her Honor Mentoring, a nonprofit she founded with Judy in 2005 to help mentor high school girls in their desired careers.
How many grandchildren does Judge Judy have?
Through her two children and three stepchildren, Judy has 13 grandkids, although many of them have remained out of the public eye.
