Rita Braver is an American television news correspondent renowned for her extensive career at CBS News. Born in Silver Spring, Maryland, she pursued a degree in political science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Braver began her journalism journey at WWL-TV in New Orleans before joining CBS News in 1972 as a producer.​

From 1983 to 1993, Braver served as CBS News's chief law correspondent, covering significant stories such as the John Walker spy ring and the Iran-Contra affair. She was the first woman to hold this position at a major TV network. Following this, she became the chief White House correspondent during President Bill Clinton's first term, traveling globally to cover various international and domestic issues. Since 1998, Braver has been a national correspondent for "CBS News Sunday Morning," reporting on a wide array of topics from arts and culture to politics and foreign policy.
