Actress

Michigan native Maribeth Monroe began her professional career on The Second City stage in Detroit. She then performed with the troupe's Chicago ensemble from 2001-2006. In 2007, she appeared in her first series regular role, as part of the ensemble on "Thank God You're Here" (NBC, 2007). On the show, the ensemble would play a scripted scene with a celebrity who dropped in with no script and was forced to improv with the troupe. Although the show was cancelled quickly, Monroe was encouraged enough to make the move to Los Angeles in 2008, where she promptly began landing series guest roles on a number of shows including "According to Jim" (ABC, 2001-09) and "Hannah Montana" (Disney Channel, 2006-2011), as well as a supporting role in the feature "The Back Up Plan" (2010), starring Jennifer Lopez. In 2010 she premiered in her role as the supervisor of three unmotivated college dropouts on the show "Workaholics" (Comedy Central, 2010-17). She had impressed series star and co-creator Anders Holm on the The Second City mainstage in Chicago when he was training there. While she appeared on "Workaholics," Monroe continued to play supporting roles on shows like "Parks & Rec" (NBC, 2009-2015), "Key and Peele" (Comedy Central, 2012-15), and "The Neighbors" (ABC, 2012-14). In 2015, she picked up another series regular role on "The Brink" (HBO, 2015-), as assistant to the Secretary of State, played by Tim Robbins.
