Loren Ruch was a highly influential television executive and producer, best known for his pivotal role at HGTV. He served as Group Senior Vice President of Development and Production, overseeing flagship series such as "Celebrity IOU", "A Very Brady Renovation", "Property Brothers: Forever Home", "My Lottery Dream Home", "Flip or Flop", "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition", and many others.
Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, just outside Los Angeles, he began his career working in daytime talk and game shows — including "Home & Family", "Love Connection", and "Family Feud." Before joining HGTV and the broader Scripps networks, Ruch earned five Emmy awards for his work at Fox’s "Good Day LA" and the nationally syndicated "Good Day Live."
During his 13-year tenure at Scripps Networks Interactive, he led teams across HGTV, Food Network, Travel Channel, DIY Network, Cooking Channel, and Great American Country. Then at HGTV, he shaped the network’s content strategy, launching several hit freshman series including "Home Town Kickstart", "Ugliest House in America", and "Fixer to Fabulous: Welcome Inn", among others. He also hosted the Discovery+ series "HGTV House Party."
Loren Ruch died in June 2025 at age 55 after battling acute myeloid leukemia, ending a storied career that helped shape modern lifestyle television.
