Although screenwriter and producer David Slack first gained notice for his work on the cult animated series "Teen Titans," he soon made the jump to procedural dramas, working on such shows as the king of all police procedural series "Law & Order" and the lesser-known examples of the form "In Plain Sight," and "The Forgotten." Slack started writing professionally in 1999 on the Frank Miller-created animated series "Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot." After stints on the family-oriented cartoons "The Legend of Tarzan" and "Jackie Chan Adventures," Slack served as writer and producer on the teenage-superhero animated series "Teen Titans" between 2003 and 2006. Slack's next move was to prime time live action drama, when he landed on the long-running police drama "Law & Order" as co-producer. By 2010, Slack was working almost exclusively on procedural dramas, with supervising producer roles on the Christian Slater-starring crime drama "The Forgotten" and the hit Fox series about a truth-divining specialist "Lie to Me."
