Journey fans were aflutter with recent news that guitarist Neal Schon had reportedly been in touch with beloved former Journey singer Steve Perry about joining the band for some performances during their “Final Frontier” farewell tour this year. But in a February 19, 2026 Facebook post, Perry shot the idea down, noting that “the rumors about me rejoining the band are simply not true, and I want to gently put them to rest.”

Perry joined the band as lead singer in 1978, and was the vocal powerhouse behind many of their biggest hits, including “Don’t Stop Believin’.” In the decades since Perry quit the band in 1987, there have been persistent fan rumors that he will rejoin the group — especially after he joined his former bandmates onstage in 1991 for a tribute to music promoter Bill Graham.
