Téa Leoni and Tim Daly make one incredible comedic duo in the new NBC comedy Newlyweds, which debuts on October 23. The actors also happen to be married — to each other!

Leoni and Daly actually met and fell in love on another TV set, which we’ll get into below. After dating for over a decade, the couple finally tied the knot. From the origins of their real-life love story to their previous marriages, here’s your guide to Téa Leoni and Tim Daly’s relationship.

When did Téa Leoni and Tim Daly get married?

Leoni and Daly married on July 12, 2025, in New York. They had an intimate wedding with just their family and close friends. In their new series, Newlyweds, Jeanie (Leoni) and James (Daly) get married on a whim after going on a blind date and falling head over heels for each other.

The couple’s marriage feels like fate. Daly revealed to LifeMinute that Leoni “told her roommate that she was gonna marry me someday, having never met me” after she saw him in the movie Diner. “She gets what she wants!” he quipped.

How did Téa Leoni and Tim Daly meet?

The couple met on the set of the CBS series Madam Secretary. Leoni played Elizabeth McCord, the Secretary of State (and later President of the United States), and Daly starred alongside her as Henry McCord, Elizabeth’s husband.

At first, Leoni and Daly kept their relationship a secret from their costars. “Every time people said we had great chemistry, I was like, ‘Yeah, no s**t!’ It was funny because our first season, we were supposedly trying to keep it quiet, be on the down low,” he told LifeMinute. “But the teamsters were picking us up at each other’s house all the time and we were looking at each other with goo goo eyes.”

It didn’t take Daly long at all to realize Leoni was perfect for him. He realized “about four minutes” after he met her on the set of Madam Secretary that he was in love with her.

Leoni and Daly made their red carpet debut at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April 2015. How fitting.

Have Téa Leoni and Tim Daly been married before?

Leoni opened up to TV Insider about her past marriage to Duchovny and revealed that she can easily relate to her Newlyweds character because of her solid relationship with her ex today.

“We’re both divorced, and we both love our exes and have really good relationships with them,” Leoni explained. “And it is hard because it’s a loss. I felt like I had had a marriage that was in its own way spectacular. And I love David and I got these two amazing gifts out of it. [Afterwards] I was really settled, and I knew I was going to get laid again.”

Do Téa Leoni and Tim Daly have kids?

Leoni shares two kids with Duchovny, West (born in 1999) and Kyd (born in 2002). West has followed in parents’ acting footsteps. She recently starred in the Peacock series The Five-Star Weekend.
