‘Nobody Wants This’ Recap: What Happened to Joanne, Noah & More Before Season 3
Season 3 of Netflix’s Nobody Wants This returns on October 22. But before Noah (Adam Brody) and Joanne (Kristen Bell) officially move in together, we’re taking a look back at the second season of the opposites-attract series.
Nobody Wants This follows Joanne, a spicy podcast host, who falls for Noah, a kind-hearted rabbi. Against all odds — and the advice of her sister, Morgan (Justine Lupe), and his brother, Sasha (Timothy Simons) — the two fell head over heels for each other during Season 1. Still, the question of Joanne being agnostic and Noah being Jewish loomed over the couple. Could they make it work, or would their mismatched faith tear them apart? Scroll to look back at everything that happened during Season 2 of Nobody Wants This.
Are Noah and Joanne still together?
Noah and Joanne ended Season 2 more committed than ever. Now they’re planning on moving in together since Joanne was evicted from her apartment. However, moving in together was not a simple choice for Noah. He explained, “We haven’t answered the question of conversion [to Judaism] yet. And I am scared. I am scared that if we move in together now, then that’ll be it. And we will never deal with the question of conversion because we won’t have to.” As Joanne put it, “I mean, I feel like I’m inching towards conversion, but I can’t guarantee it.” For that reason, heading into the finale, they questioned whether they should separate so they both could be “exactly who we are.”

During the Season 2 finale, Joanne and Noah attended Morgan’s engagement party (more on that below), “faking” a happy relationship. At the party, Noah told Joanne he wanted to break up because he didn’t want to ask her to be “someone different.” However, soon after, they reunited in a rom-com moment mirroring the end of When Harry Met Sally, with both Noah and Joanne running to each other. Once they finally met up, he told her, “None of it matters. You are my soulmate.”
Did Joanne convert to Judaism?
Joanne hasn’t converted yet, but she has decided that she wants to! At the end of Season 1, Joanne and Noah decided to put a pause on the conversion conversation. While Noah assumed it was just for the time being, Joanne was convinced they could simply avoid the conversation forever. Since Joanne didn’t have any plans to convert, Noah ended up losing the lead rabbi position at his temple to another rabbi, leading him to leave the congregation.
Still, throughout the season, Joanne found herself growing closer to Noah’s Jewish traditions. After their brief split and a conversation with Esther (Jackie Tohn), Joanne told Noah, “I’m Jewish.” At the same time, Noah admitted, “None of it matters. You are my soulmate. I don’t care if you’re Jewish. I don’t care if you’re not Jewish. I choose you, every time.”
Why did Sasha and Esther break up?
The biggest shocker of Season 2 was that Season 1’s most stable couple, Esther and Sasha, broke up. Throughout the season, Esther slowly revealed that she was discontent with their relationship. However, their breaking point came during Morgan’s engagement party, when Esther finally admitted, “I know how hard you’ve tried. But it’s not working, and I don’t know why. But what I do know is that it’s me right now, and I can’t fix it while we’re together.”

Later, Sasha told Morgan, “I mean, if she thinks that she can just, like, go out there and see what life is on the other side without me, and I’ll just wait and take her back, she’s absolutely right.” Still, for all the Morgan and Sasha shippers out there, the door may finally be open heading into Season 3.
Did Morgan get married?
During Season 2, Morgan decided to date and get engaged to her therapist, Dr. Andy (Arian Moayed). While everyone else saw that patient/doctor relationship as a little funky and Dr. Andy frequently used his deeper understanding of Morgan’s innermost feelings to keep her close, she finally saw the light during their engagement party. At the party, she told him, “This relationship is over.”
