Glen Powell Reacts to Daisy Edgar-Jones’ Hilarious ‘Pride & Prejudice’ Comparison

Glen Powell has thoughts about Daisy Edgar-Jones‘ surprising pick for which Jane Austen man he would best embody.
The Sense and Sensibility star was asked during a Betches UK interview to match up her former costars — Fresh‘s Sebastian Stan, Normal People‘s Paul Mescal, and Twisters‘ Powell — with Austen characters. “I think Paul would give a great Darcy,” she said, referring to Pride and Prejudice’s leading man. “He could totally do the brooding, but the vulnerability. I think he’d be great.”
She went on to agree with the interviewer’s suggestion that Stan would play a “brilliant” Mr. Wickham — aka the deceptive military officer who tries to win over Elizabeth Bennet — before choosing a less swoonworthy character for Powell.
“Who’s the one in Pride and Prejudice who’s like, ‘Would you like a potato?'” she said, doing her impression of Tom Hollander‘s take on the character in 2005’s Pride & Prejudice. Shortly after his arrival at the Bennet estate, intent on marrying one of his distant cousins, the awkward Mr. Collins is overly enthusiastic about the boiled potatoes during a family dinner.
“Obviously Mr. Collins because he’s so funny. I think he would nail that,” Edgar-Jones explained. “I just think it’s surprise casting, and I think Glen as Mr. Collins would be pretty genius. It would be nice to see Glen occupy that role of the one that’s a bit awkward. The one no one really wants to be paired off with.”
A short while later, the actress shared Powell’s reaction to her choice, posting a screenshot of their text chain on Instagram. “Daisy…” he wrote in his first message. “Mr. Collins.”
She sent a picture of Hollander’s Collins back as a response, asking if Powell saw the resemblance. “It’s like British Me!” Powell joked back.

“If you feel it chase it,” Edgar-Jones responded, referring to the catchphrase of Powell’s storm-chasing character in 2024’s Twisters.
“#HotCollinsSummer,” Powell replied. “It’s on.”
