‘The Challenge’: Izzy Reveals Where She Stands With Cory After Season 42 Flirtation

There has been no shortage of showmances on Season 42 of The Challenge, including some heavy flirtation between Cory Wharton and Izzy Fairthorne. That all came to a screeching halt, though, when Cory received a phone call from on-and-off girlfriend Taylor Selfridge, who frantically told him their youngest daughter, who has a heart condition, was being hospitalized.
Of course, Cory went home to be with his family, and Izzy was sent home after losing an elimination to Cassidy Clark in the following episode. But did their relationship continue when they both left the house in Thailand?
“After the show, obviously, I reached out to see if his daughter was OK, of course,” Izzy told TV Insider. “But we didn’t have contact after that.”
Cory admitted on the show that he wasn’t sure where things stood in his relationship with Taylor at the time. He and Izzy never crossed a line physically, but he has acknowledged that his actions were hurtful.
“A lot of the times when you’re in the spotlight it’s bigger than you and I lost sight of that,” he wrote on X. “I was selfish and being a narcissist. And I apologize I’ll get better. I’ll seek therapy & continue to be a loving present father to my daughters.”
Per The Ashley, he also recently said that he and Taylor are now on “great terms” and that their daughter’s health scare brought them closer. For the record, little Maya has also recovered and is doing OK!
Meanwhile, Izzy also addressed why she cried when Cory left The Challenge. “I think it’s taken out of context on the show about why I was so upset and wanted to speak to him,” she explained. “It wasn’t because he was leaving and I was so upset about it. It was because of his situation going on at home. And I think you see everyone else crying in there and how upset they are for him. And I was exactly the same. You can’t even put yourself in that position for what he was going through, no matter what happened, and that’s what I wanted to speak to him about, just to make sure he was OK.”
