It turns out that 32-year-old Mattfeld is married to a real-life football player. The actress has been in a relationship with now-retired NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez for years. Sanchez has been making headlines since October 2025 for being involved in an Indianapolis incident and the resulting criminal trial. On September 3, 2026, it was reported that Sanchez planned to plead guilty. Get all the latest updates on his relationship with Mattfeld below.
Who is Perry Mattfeld’s husband?
Mark Sanchez, who played college football for USC, was picked No. 5 overall by the New York Jets in the 2009 NFL Draft. He played in the league for 10 seasons and was on the roster of the Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, and more. The now-39-year-old retired in 2019 and began working as an NFL analyst for Fox Sports.
In November 2025, the network said that it no longer employed Sanchez following his alleged attack on a truck driver, 69-year-old Perry Tole, a month earlier. Sanchez was stabbed in the chest by the truck driver, who claimed it was self-defense. Tole sued Sanchez and Fox Sports for unspecified damages.
How long have Perry Mattfeld and Mark Sanchez been together?
Mattfeld and Sanchez started dating in 2017. They were introduced by mutual friend Scotty McKnight. They married in 2023 after getting engaged the year before. Sanchez told People that “emotional is a massive understatement” to describe how he felt after his wedding. “It all hit me at once like a Mack Truck and after that, I couldn’t turn off the tears! Tears of joy, love and gratitude for getting such an incredible life partner.”
The actress told Haute Living that her first date with Sanchez was at Au Cheval in Chicago. She said that they connected over their similar backgrounds, both being Hispanic, growing up in the same place, and going to college at USC. “At the time, Mark was playing for the Chicago Bears, and I was in Chicago filming Shameless. We hit it off right away, learning we had so much more in common than we could have imagined,” she recalled.
In an interview with The Knot, Mattfeld explained what their relationship was like in the beginning. “We met in 2017 right before I started filming In The Dark, so nearly our entire relationship has been long-distance except for quarantine. That year was really the first time we were like, ‘This is it. This is our life.'”
Do Perry Mattfeld and Mark Sanchez have kids?
Mattfeld and Sanchez welcomed twins in March 2025. “Biggest surprise yet 🥹 !! #twinmom,” they captioned a joint post to reveal the news a month earlier. They’ve since kept their kids’ names private, though Mattfeld has occasionally shared photos of the twins on Instagram.

Bobby T, whose real name is Erin Campaneris, shares a son, Daniel, with Sanchez. In October 2025, she said via Instagram Stories, “I am aware of the serious criminal charges currently facing my son’s father, Mark Sanchez. My foremost priority has always been, and remains, our eight year old son, Daniel. I chose to remain silent publicly to protect Daniel. Now that everything is out in the open, my focus hasn’t changed. I have always been concerned for [Daniel’s] safety and for what he is exposed to. Sadly, none of this is surprising to me.”
What are the latest updates in the Mark Sanchez trial?
The incident took place in Indianapolis, where Sanchez was on a job for Fox Sports. Per a police affidavit acquired by CBS, Sanchez and Tole argued over a parking situation during the night of October 5, 2025. When it escalated, Tole said that he pepper-sprayed Sanchez in the face. According to the outlet, Sanchez allegedly advanced toward Tole, who thought “this guy is trying to kill me.” Tole stabbed Sanchez multiple times, which court documents claim was self-defense. Tole also claimed that Sanchez threw him against a dumpster before Sanchez fled the scene.
On September 3, 2026, CBS reported that Sanchez will plead guilty in the ensuing criminal case, per online public court records. The exact charges the former quarterback is pleading guilty to aren’t known. He faces misdemeanor charges of battery resulting in bodily injury, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication endangering the life of another. He also faces the felony charge of battery resulting in serious bodily injury. Tole also filed a civil lawsuit against Sanchez and Fox News.
Nick Sanchez Jr., Mark’s brother and legal adviser, said in a statement to CBS News regarding the guilty plea, “This is a positive development. We are finalizing an agreement with the prosecutor’s office that provides a path toward resolving the state’s case. We’re also encouraged by the constructive conversations taking place regarding the related civil matter. There is real momentum toward bringing this entire chapter to a close.”
