After three months in the United States with her fiancé Thomas Dintino, Paula Barbosa claims she is ready to travel back home to Brazil with her family.
During the Sunday, August 23 episode (Episode 16) of 90 Day Fiancé Season 12, Paula told Thomas that she was heavily considering heading home with her family, just a day before their wedding. “I want to move to Brazil,” she told him, questioning their “long-term” future. In response, Thomas told her, “You’re making these wild claims that you’re ready to leave at a moment’s notice. I don’t know. I don’t feel like we’re on the same page.”
During Season 12, fans have gotten to know Paula and Thomas, two best friends who took things to the next level despite living continents apart. While Thomas lives in Long Beach, California, Paula is from São Paulo, Brazil. At the start of the season, Paula and all of her mini manifestation objects moved into Thomas’ nearly barren apartment. The differences in their living styles did not end there. Now, they’re threatening to tear the friends-to-lovers duo apart.

Are Paula and Thomas still together?
As of Episode 16, Thomas started to question whether Paula was ready for a long-term commitment. Paula explained, “I’m changing my country. I left my business behind with 18 people working with me. I’m here. What part you don’t understand that I’m here?” She later added, “You are pushing me too far. You are pushing me to Brazil… I’m about to leave.” According to Thomas, Paula never mentioned wanting to bring him to Brazil with her.
What have Paula and Thomas said about their relationship?
Off-screen, Paula has revealed a major life update. On social media during a Q&A, Paula confessed that she is back in Brazil. While this does not prove whether the two are there together, she traveled alone, or she has permanently relocated back to her Brazil, this definitely caught viewers by surprise.
On May 24, Thomas had shared a video of his and Paula’s engagement, writing, “I would like to share that Paula and I are engaged! Here is the moment when I proposed to her in Brazil at 5am during a beautiful sunrise on the beach. Out of nowhere, @fefe and her friends rushed in to celebrate with us. I had no idea they would be joining us during this incredible moment but I’m glad they were just as excited as I was when Paula said yes!”
In the comments, Paula indicated that they were very much still in love, at the time, writing, “A memorable day! The best surprise ever. I am so glad that God allows us to found each other in this planet, in this life! I love you so much, thank you for being my love – te amo.”

When did Paula and Thomas meet?
Paula and Thomas met at a beach volleyball class while she was visiting California, days after Thomas had moved to the state. According to Thomas, he and Paula hit it off right away, leading him to believe that they could be more than friends. Not wanting to ruin the blossoming friendship, Thomas didn’t make a move. For years, they were pen pals until something shifted that Thomas “couldn’t ignore.”
Thomas told viewers, “I went down to Brazil, and I was like, ‘Hey, Paula. Is there anything between us? Can we have like a romance?'” Paula, who was shocked, revealed that she had a boyfriend. Once Paula and that boyfriend broke up, around 2021, Thomas and Paula went from friends to lovers.
When did Paula and Thomas get engaged?
While Thomas posted a video of their engagement in May, it appears that the duo actually got engaged in 2023. On January 1, 2o23, Paula shared their engagement video, writing, “I always dreamed of having a boyfriend exactly like you but I didn’t think it would happen to me for real! It felt more like a crazy fantasy in my head. So the universe prepared you, much better than I ever imagined!”
She continued, “Thank you for waiting for me 3 years, thank you for being the best boyfriend in the world! When I’m with you I forget about everything, you are my dream materialized! Now my fiancéee omg!!! I looove you, Thomas Dintino and yes, I said yesss!”
