Marissa and Edward were introduced to viewers during Season 12 of 90 Day Fiancé‘s flagship series. At 45 and 32, respectively, Marissa is described as a “high-powered” New York City exec from an “upper-crust, socialite family,” starkly contrasting her “hotel entertainment worker” fiancé. However, since they met over two years ago while Marissa was on vacation, the two have been inseparable.
Now that Edward has arrived in Connecticut from the Dominican Republic, their relationship is getting a little bit more complicated. From Marissa’s strict house rules to visits from her children’s father, parents, and more, fans are wondering whether their relationship can survive. Scroll to find out everything we know about where Marissa and Edward stand today and more!
Are Marissa and Edward still together?
As of Episode 14 of 90 Day Fiancé Season 12, Marissa and Edward are still together. That said, a few episodes back, Marissa admitted that she didn’t know whether she wanted to get married or not. After Edward gave her two weeks to decide, the couple started feeling more like themselves. However, when Marissa got to their most recent date, excited to tell him that she was ready, Edward surprised her with another heavy conversation about their relationship. Telling him that he killed the mood, Marissa stormed out of filming.
What are Marissa’s house rules?
Fans quickly found out that Marissa has some pretty strict house rules. The second they walked into her home, Marissa laid down the law, telling Edward to take off his shoes. He shared, “Immediately when I was inside the house, she just basically tell me the rules. I was like, ‘Okay… We start now.’”

Marissa recently opened up to Swooon about the fan criticism toward her relationship with Edward. “They think that I am completely bossy and controlling, and I don’t give Edward his way, and I just want to rule his life, which is not true,” she said. “I want him to thrive in this country, I want him to become the best version of himself, and I want him to be successful. And me guiding him along the way isn’t necessarily trying to control his life, but it’s more of like him developing into the best version of himself.”
How did Marissa and Edward meet?
Marissa met Edward on a girls’ trip, which is a surprisingly popular way to meet the love of your life on 90 Day Fiancé. During the Season 12 premiere, Marissa told her colleagues that it was about three years between when she first met Edward and when they reconnected. During another trip to Punta Cana, Marissa texted Edward, who had lost her number and was trying to track her down. “Ever since that date, we were pretty much in a solid relationship.” After two years of long-distance, they made their relationship official.
Do Marissa’s parents approve of Edward?
One of the biggest concerns in Marissa and Edward’s relationship is whether Marissa’s parents will approve of her groom-to-be. Marissa’s ex-husband has already warned Edward that her parents are hard to impress, which caused him to feel like an outsider while they were together. Now, Marissa’s parents are entering the picture with a visit during Episode 7. At the beginning of the episode, Marissa shared, “I’m super nervous. My parents’ approval means the world to me.”
Once her parents arrived, Marissa’s mother, JoAnn, told Edward that “it’s not going to be smooth sailing all the way.” She explained, “When Marissa came to me with her situation… I was not on board at all.” She then cited the age and culture difference. In the end, JoAnn warned, “Talk is cheap. We’ll see what you’re made of.”
