The J. Geils Band was an American rock band formed in 1967 in Worcester, Massachusetts, best known for their energetic blues-rock style and later mainstream rock hits.

Initially rooted in blues, R&B, and early rock-and-roll, The J. Geils Band developed a reputation for energetic live performances. Their music evolved into a more pop-rock sound by the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The band's album "Freeze Frame" (1981) was their commercial breakthrough, hitting number one on the Billboard charts, driven primarily by the single "Centerfold."
